do u ever come to the realization that you’re literally a slave to nostalgia. no matter how good you life is, you can’t help but compare it to childhood memories that play in your mind like a broken loop. the present is good, but does it have the rosy film of the past? will springs ever feel as they did when you experienced them as a child? will happiness ever feel as all-encompassing and endless? how can i ever be satisfied if i’m trying to chase a feeling no longer attainable to my grown up self

genuinely concerned about how little queer history thats getting through to the younger members of the community. literally saw teenagers talking about how talking about pronouns wasn't a thing until 2020??? horrifying to think that they seem to insist queer culture didn't exist until they found it.

the fucking attack helicopter joke has been around since 2014!! leslie feinberg was born in 1949 and ze used ze/hir pronouns and obviously made comics about hir and hir communities identity and life! phalloplasty was first described in 1938!! christine jorgensen had surgery in the 50s to transition and published her biography in the 60s! even in the 1800s writers were talking about the need for *gender neutral* pronouns in both fiction and nonfiction!

yes, social media has let trans and queer people spread more knowledge about pronouns and identity, but acting like none of it even existed till the 2010s or even sooner is... concerning.

our older generations died, but that doesn't mean the knowledge has to die too! do not ignore and diminish the people before you.

you know whats funny is there will NEVER be another one direction... the mystique, the truly global hype, their perfect origin story, the way social media was just developing and we starved and slavered over each crumb and pap pic we could get our hands on.. the way they built the perfect image and narrative and made fucking good music too... these new stars simply cannot compete theyre too accessible, too real, our attention spans are too short and we’re too saturated with options... there will simply never be another cultural phenomenon with the kind of staying power and impact they had
