Pink Pearl’s Story

Ok so I’m gonna dive into Steven Universe theory. If this has been done already someone please tell me!

Ok so as we all know now that the Diamond Days Arc is over, Pink Pearl was White Pearl this whole time. (Credit for gif @artifiziell)

What we DONT know is her story.

Here’s my ideas based on what was revealed in the show and interviews with Rebecca.

Pink Pearl was Pink Diamond’s first Pearl/Best Friend. In the beginning of Change Your Mind, it was revealed in a Pink Diamond flashback/dream that Pink had been a troublemaker in the eyes of her fellow diamonds. Blue even reminding Pink that if she kept up this behavior White would take away her pearl.

Well, we all know how that ended....

I feel as though Pink lost her Pearl on accident. Just one accidental screw up. Her temper tantrum in Jungle Moon.

Rebecca Sugar avoided the question in a podcast with Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch that they could not reveal what would happen if a gem was left in the dark too long.

Pink was locked in a dark tower as punishment. I believe this is where White kept Pink Pearl. I feel like Pink was forced to see it too.

I believe that she was in there so long, she lost her mind and cracked her eye. She was still not willing to conform to White’s rules. She was so desperate to return to Pink. That’s when she became White Pearl. White knew she couldn’t get her to obey otherwise.

Pink was devastated and refused contact with White.

To cheer her up, Yellow relented and gave her the Earth. Blue convinced Yellow to help her get her hands on another Pearl for Pink.

(I’ve seen in another theory that Our Pearl is a Rainbow Pearl)

Blue and Yellow brought Our Pearl to Pink as a surprise to go with her new colony.

Our Pearl even stayed that she was given to Pink as a gift from the other diamonds to make her happy. She just never could...

Pink never forgot her first pearl. She knew she could never truly replace her. Our Pearl eventually won some affection from Pink. Of course, this love was one sided. I don’t think Pink ever REALLY got over her first pearl. I don’t think she could. She did love our Pearl. Just not in the same way she loved Pink Pearl.

I feel as though Our Pearl never actually knew about Pink Pearl. I don’t feel like Our Pearl ever belonged to White Diamond.
