My WhatCulture list of the reasons just why Flame Con is one of the most awesome events on the calendar nowadays.
Joe Glass describes his time exhibiting at Flame Con, the LGBTQ+ comic con held in Brooklyn, now in its third year — a con that proved a ton of fun.
A report on the London Film & Comic Con from a long-time anti-Showmasters comic creator. Have they made changes? Are they enough?
So hey realised I forgot to ask Tumblr
Who’s going to San Diego Comic Con? I’m gonna be there all week, and have a couple signings and a panel too!
It’s London Film & Comic Con this weekend, and I’m popping along for a while.
Here’s my schedule…
SATURDAY 27th FEBRUARY
12-2pm: At Table. 3-5pm: At Table
SUNDAY 28th FEBRUARY
11pm: Writing for Star Wars panel: John Ostrander, John Wagner and me. 12:30 - 2pm: At Table.
Hopefully see some folks around.
I personally have issues with Showmasters, but really if you can or are going anyway, you really should go and see Kieron.
But do me a favor, while you are there, make an effort to go and see any and all small press/indie comics creators that are there. Knowing Showmasters, the ‘Comic Zone’ will be somewhere out of the way and not signposted, so make the effort, it would really mean a lot for those with tables there.
But yeah, get there early, get in line for a signing with Kieron (because believe me, there will be queues lol), and check out the panel, because it will be fascinating.
Off to London for LSCC! Who’s going?
And this is exactly where to fine me!
So come on, guys, tell me who’s going to be there and come over and say hi!
My cosplay pics from the weekend are up on Bleeding Cool now!

Hey guys, check it out! I did a write up of the awesome Gays in Comics panel held at SDCC (for 28 years, if you’d believe it!), which featured some incredible talent including Steve Orlando, Brian Andersen, Dax Tran-Caffee, Paige Braddock, Hilary Price, kevinwada and kristaferanka
Hopefully, this piece can get even more traction that that Hasbro/me getting beaten up one, so please share it lol.
Where to find me at San Diego Comic Con 2015!
So the big upcoming comic con news I was to share with you all - is all about what I'm doing at San Diego Comic Con!
I am on a panel called Comixology Submit: The Future of Self Publishing on the Saturday, so if you are at Comic Con International please come and check it out! The details are below
Comixology Submit: The Future of Self Publishing To date, comiXology Submit has released over 2,000 independent comic books, graphic novels, and manga, from celebrated indie creators such as Shannon Wheeler, Becky Cloonan, and more. John D. Roberts (comiXology co-founder and director of Submit) is joined by breakout Submit superstars Janelle Asselin (publisher, Rosy Press), Jody Houser (Cupcake POW!), Joe Glass (The Pride, Stiffs), Elliot Blake (The Package), and Stephan Franck (Silver) for a tell-all discussion on how you too can create, submit, and reach the ranks of comiXology Submit stardom. Moderated by Chip Mosher (comiXology VP of communications and marketing). Saturday July 11, 2015 3:00pm - 4:00pm Room 29AB
I will also be doing two Creator Signing Sessions at the Prism comics booth (Booth 2144). I will have some very limited stock of The Pride and Stiffs, so if you'd like to grab them in person, please stop by!
I'll be there Thursday between 12pm -1pm, and Friday between 12pm-1pm
So please, come and say hi! It will be lovely to meet you in person!
Comic con!
I really want to do this comic con one day, people always seem to have a tremendous amount of fun there
YAY! Heard from a couple of people going to SDCC! Anyone else?
People of tumblr, I have an important question: who is coming to SDCC?
So I have started a fundraiser to help get me out to SDCC this year.
As some of you know, I also write as a reporter for Bleeding Cool on occasion, my main focus being LGBTQ issues in comics.
Last year, as well as general reporting, I also made LGBTQ articles a priority by reporting on as many of the LGBTQ panels and events as I could.
I want to keep doing that, and Bleeding Cool has again got me a press pass to do so...all depending on if I can get there.
As I’ve mentioned before, costs have shot up, and I am really struggling to afford it.
So I made the fundraiser to help me out. You can go here to help if you can/want to.
With the followers here, it’s only take like £1 each to more than cover the trip for me.
As well keeping up my comics journalism and LGBTQ in comics reporting, it will also give me another opportunity to spread the word of The Pride and network to keep building the comic and my career as a writer. It’s keeping up the momentum on a step closer to my dream.
Thanks guys.
I want to keep networking and pushing The Pride, raising awareness for the LGBTQ comic series I created in a small Welsh town all those years ago, and bring it to a global audience.
I want to keep reporting on comics, and covering the LGBTQ aspects of San Diego Comic Con as I did last year.
I've been offered the chance to go as a roving reporter again, but I have to cover my own accommodation and travel....which has almost doubled in price since last year.
All my money goes into making The Pride...so I need help to take advantage of this. Please, if you can, help out. Just £1 each would more to get me out there.
Thanks, guys!
Cardiff Film & Comic Con March 2015 was my best selling comic con to date!
A show that, well, has a lot of negative points organisationally, needless to say still has incredible fans and people coming in wanting to see new comics. And they really showed that this weekend.
Thanks to anyone and everyone who came by today, you helped make it amazing.
I’ll be updating with pics soon!
And if you were unable to pick up the comics at the show, you can still get them at the online Stiffs Store and the online The Pride Store!
