Hello stranger!

I am: a feminist, over 30, happily bisexual, #actuallyautistic, disabled. I'm an atheist Jew with an interest in female-only spirituality. (Feel free to ask me about it.) Painfully earnest at all times.

I like: dogs, horror novels, synthwave, nature, science, poetry, fiber arts, toxic fictional relationships, nuance in both life and media, female class consciousness, citing my sources.

I'm bad at: replying to asks or messages on time, picking up on sarcasm, being concise.

I run a Discord server for radical and rad-adjacent feminists in the US Southwest: Arizona, (southern) California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and (western) Texas. Get in contact at @radicalsouthwest

Happy to talk to anyone! Just shoot me a message.

thinking about the cycle of: women do better in school - more women become teachers - men are socialized not to listen to or pay attention to women - men do worse in school

and yet males continue being paid more money and being handed a majority of all positions with significant social power, and every previously male-dominated profession that is taken over by more competent women experiences a drop in status and pay.

Thinking about when I was a freshwoman in college and a formerly incarcerated woman came to talk to my feminist theory class about how she believed in abolition but only for women's prisons. She spoke about how rare violent female criminals are, especially when you exclude abuse victims/self defense etc. She spoke about how many of her peers were broken and abused and needed help. She spoke about how isolating mixed-sex spaces for formerly incarcerated people were because so many of the men were openly threatening or misogynistic. She spoke about how complete abolition is unrealistic and impractical because of the epidemic of male violence. She had so many amazing hot takes that she would say without shame or hesitation. It really opened my eyes because I didn't think I was even allowed to think things like that. Anyway I hope she is doing well and I fully agree.

I’m the weirdest kind of extremely online because I would be severely offline if it wasn’t for tumblr. you genuinely can’t reach me anywhere else other than tumblr I simply don’t use other social media. I don’t even like texting or calling people. I only like hanging out with people irl and being on tumblr and reading the weather forecast

i think a better way to frame 4B is that it’s like quitting smoking. you make the choice to give up cigarettes, even if it’s hard, in order to enhance and extend your life. it’s not going to destroy the tobacco industry, but if enough people quit, it may seriously damage it. 4B is the exact same. you decenter men for your own quality of life, even you can’t singlehandedly topple the patriarchy in doing so.

recently when im tempted to say 'i'm gonna kill myself' i try to correct it into saying "im gonna walk into the river and become a trout" or some other form of that. this is my new thing

btw this has graduated into me just saying "the trout population will be affected" and then not elaborating

Everyone obsessed with Twitter is a terminally online culture war victim trying to forge a media career and addicted to spiking their own cortisol and they need to get a real job and integrate into society. Sooo glad that I meanwhile am unemployed in a chic way and spend all my time on Tumblr which denotes a refined, even aristocratic sensibility and a noble commitment to upholding a vanishing way of life in an uncomprehending world

no woman is required to “respect” cultural practices which are inherently degrading to them or religious beliefs which devalue them as human beings. we are not required to adhere to a state of patriarchal reverence whether we’re observing our own society or others, and we’re free to both criticize and reject any ideology that views female human beings as innately inferior or born for subservience.

I categorically reject cultural relativism, especially as it relates to supporting the fundamental human rights of women and girls. I don't give a goddamn what country you're from or your personal beliefs.

In order to fully invest in cultural relativism you have to believe that some women are more or less human depending on when they're born. Cultural relativists rarely apply the same to human rights violations against men.

Cultural practices that treat women are subservient didn't come about completely organically or spring fully formed from the ground, they were created and shaped by men in order to justify and uphold male ownership over women. Culture isn't entirely collaborative and equally agreed upon by everyone within it, some people (men) have disproportionate power over it and use it deliberately.
