“Aha,” Okuyasu was a few steps ahead of you hands in his pockets as he walked, “Sorry, I’m not really good at first dates.” He paused and looked at the ground.

“This is my first first date...” he trailed off refusing to lift his gaze before “WHICH IS EVEN WORSE!”

When he finally did look back at you, his worry was etched into his face. Even strained it was such a sweet face you couldn’t help but smile. You caught up to him and pulled his hand out of his pocket and held it.

“Then don’t think of it as a first date-“

“YOU DONT WANT THIS TO BE A DATE?!”

“NO NO NO!!!” Shit that just made things so much worse. “No no I DO want this to be a date, because it is, but it doesn’t have to be stressful? Like a first date?” That didn’t come out well, you thought for a few seconds before continuing.

“It’s not like other first dates because I already know you well and I already know I like you a lot!” There it was, that heartwarming smile of his that you loved. “So it’s less of a first date and just one date of a lot to come!”

“Hehe,” Okuyasu started to shuffle away again, though not before grabbing your hand, “that sounds better.”
