i discovered my new favorite study spot in this university a few days ago and i’m absolutely loving it. it’s basically a small pod where it’s a table made specifically for one, and it has an outlet and two usb ports!!! the inner nerd in me is weeping for joy, it’s perfect. it’s right beside the writing center too, in case i need them to help edit my papers.
currently cooping myself up in it while reading othello for my shakespeare class.
« february 5, 2018 // 10:23pm » why does this semester seem a lot busier than the last?
11.7.2017 ~ 7:38pm: wrote 2,020 words of my novel today then inked a page of my manga. creative writing + studio art = creativity overload. feeling a little pressure because i told my creative writing professor i’m handing in the first draft of my novel as my final portfolio for the semester so she has great expectations for me.
does anyone else do nanowrimo? i had reached 10k words yesterday, so i was very pleased.

oh jeez, has it really been since october that i hadn’t posted original photos? welp. sorry about that. this semester has been rather chaotic, and i’m barely surviving. organic chemistry is tough, that’s for sure. good news though: i managed to write over 50,000 words for nanowrimo, which was an amazing feat at the cost of good grades orz.
now it’s finals week, and i’m suffering in another way now. studying for my orgo final tomorrow. wish me luck.
currently listening to: lie by park jimin (bts)

i got an a on my physics exam, my first ever a on an exam this semester so i rewarded myself by buying a ban.do planner! i decided to use that to keep track of homework/required reading due dates and future exam dates, while my bullet journal focuses on logs about the current day with my tasks focused on getting those assignments and studying done as well as personal tasks.
now i’m currently studying anatomy before my lecture at 1pm since there’s going to be a quiz. i hope you all are having a wonderful middle of the week! i’m sure you guys are doing wonderfully.

“how’s studying going?” my boyfriend casually asks, pursuing performing arts
“haha, well,” i say back, sweating over the piles of organic chemistry material i have to review

sociology of gender is such a fun course. it’s a nice distraction from all the stress i get from taking anatomy, orgo, and physics all in one semester. my new gender workbook by kate bornstein is definitely a great read, especially if you’re questioning or exploring your gender. i hope all of you are having a lovely day!

currently going over the lecture notes i took from the previous lecture for sociology of gender. i’ve read an article about how spaced repetition works, so i’m going to try and reread/review lecture notes a day after i attended the lecture.
remember guys! gender is a social construct that is not real (in a sense that it’s made up) but indeed exists (in terms of the consequences people of certain gender identities have to face).

good to be back on campus. the first day of classes was today, and they went pretty well! although i still have to deal with seeing my abuser in my gender studies course and other places on campus... which isn’t pleasant at all. but nonetheless, i miss studying and doing schoolwork! the summer has been pretty dull, since i don’t do well with self-studying. i don’t have the drive for it, haha.
right now, currently doing my pre-lab assignment before i attend my organic chem lab tomorrow. what genius thought that putting students through 4 hours of hell was a great idea?

the perks to studying at my usual cartel at the library: i’m just a few steps away from the manga shelves. in between one-hour study blocks, i’ll often use my 10 minute breaks to grab a manga volume off the shelf and give it a read for the day’s breaks. bakuman is especially a great series to read, especially if you have dreams to reach. it’s basically about a manga-creating duo who dreamed of being manga creators for a good majority of their lives and work to achieve their goal of becoming some of the most famous manga creators in shonen jump. definitely a manga series i would recommend.

finished up the last three chapters of the biology review portion. it made me a little nervous to be reviewing the reproductive system while children are running amok in the library, aha. but the undertale soundtrack is a really good soundtrack to study to, to be honest. it has a perfect mix of ACTION-Y BADASS MUSIC and soft, Warm relaxing music-- and it’s all retro 8-bit style instrumental music. 10/10. do recommend.

today’s chapters were the skeletal and muscular systems, the cardiovascular system, and the digestive system. not too bad material. being at the library on a friday morning was weird though-- there was no one but the elderly.

this carrel is officially my favorite to-go study spot in the library. i got six pomodoros done again today, having written detailed notes for three chapters. i finished early so now i have half an hour to myself until my dad picks me up at 2pm hah-- my nervous system notes looked especially pretty.

i got six pomodoros done today-- three chapters done in six pomodoros!!! the pcat has a lot of material in it guys. it’s no joke. i couldn’t post this earlier because i didn’t bring my laptop with me, which i use to add finishing touches to my pictures. that’s my strategy for studying for the pcat basically. i head to the library and stay there from 9:30am until 2pm with only my study materials and my phone, without my laptop to distract myself with. i use the forest app so that i won’t be distracted by my phone. i give myself 2 pomodoros (50 mins) to do before i give myself a 10-min break, then repeat.

finally cracking down on the pcat material. i had bought the official practice book written by the test makers themselves, so i hope i do well. the problem is, well, biology is basically my weakest subject.
