i love adhd. i have a lot to do at work today. i take my meds. i open the word document. i immediately misspell “benzodiazepines.” i go on tumblr to post “benzodiazepenis….” for the mutualés. and then it’s 45 minutes later and ive caught up on tumblr and checked the weather and read a fic and texted an ex and ordered new pens and looked up a recipe for chicken pot pie and posted about adhd and done zero work.

Pulling this fun prank on myself one too many times is the reason I had to start setting a timer after taking my meds to warn me when they're about to kick in. Because whatever I'm doing when the meds kick in is what I'll be doing for the day, so it had better be work...

When I was still taking an ADHD med (had to stop because side effects got severe), I took an hour before getting out of bed, but the night before I would set up for whatever I intended to do. So an hour after meds, they kick in, and off I am to have breakfast and do whatever housecleaning is necessary. Housecleaning took significantly less effort and time, and then I could do whatever else, and that was working on quilts.

Prepping the night before prevented me from getting stuck under the couch like a roomba.

I feel like more people should know about the Filipino phrase bahala na si Batman. quite literally, it means it's up to Batman. on a more figurative level, it means that you're leaving something to God/fate - metaphorically represented by Batman, of course.

big event that you haven't prepared for but you're going anyway? bahala na si Batman. major exams coming up and you haven't reviewed yet? bahala na si Batman. about to do anything remotely risky/luck-based? bahala na si Batman.

anyways, I just think it's hilarious that Batman is now a part of our culture through this saying. is this a thing in other cultures/languages too? let me know!

One thing that will always make me think about is how young Dick was when he became an independent hero.

Like, when I first saw him as Nightwing, I was like 8, and I saw him becoming a hero on his own when he was like 17-19, and I thought he was great and already an adult and... No, absolutely not.

Now that I'm older than that, even that's not by much... I can only think that he was still a damn kid. He wasn't an adult, and yet everything that happened, just... omg.

Now, he's like 27 years old, and he still has more time as a hero than many, even people older than him.
