since no one DMed me i guess no one wants to hear my yapp... i guess i'll just drop it there (i say with tears rolling on my face)
Here is my interpretation of the most famous couples in amazigh mythology
— Ifru (head of pantheon, goddess of war, warriors' protection, protection in general and fertility) & Argurzil (god of war and thunder) ;
the couple ever tbh, very healthy and probably extremely funny. girlboss and malewife except they both can and will kill you. their rare arguments are probably war strategy-related.
— Tannit (goddess of wisdom, civilisation, war and protection) & Ba'al Hammon (god of the cosmos, -can be compared to Ouranos-, harvest and fertility) ;
okay hear me out but to me it's impossible that both sisters have an healthy marriage. see how most traditional men can act very lovey dovey with their wife at home and they actually adore them but outside they act ashamed of said wife and ignore her? that's them except that Tannit is being the asshole here, to show the matriarchal traditions of amazigh culture but also as an access of pride, she's Ifru's sister so it means that she's a person to look up to but she ain't no head of pantheon so she tries harder to keep the respect people have for her and one of those way is to completely neglect her husband when they're with other beings. it hurts Ba'al but he's in love and his wife is the one with the most power so he just shut up (Loving Feeling by Mitski kinda thing)
— Anzaar (god of rain and water) & Tiziri (goddess of rainbow) ;
Any person that is a tiny bit into amazigh mythology knows about the myth of Anzaar's bride (or how Tiziri was forced into becoming Anzaar's wife) and there's no need to be very smart to guess that it is a one-sided marriage where both are unhappy. Anzaar is hopelessly in love ever since he first laid his eyes on her and Tiziri hates him ever since he took her away from her people. I can see her MAYBE hating him a little less with time and acting a bit more friendly but she's never falling in love with him.
— Terryel (ogress, witch, and protective goddess of women) & the free man (Lion)
i know that they're rarely depicted as lovers but THE SYMBOLISM PLEEAAASE?? they both chased freedom, and did so hand in hand, living their love far from the domesticated men and women, but the wilderness slowly turned the man into an animal and Teryel, devastated to see her lover turned into a lion, ate the golden leaf of the Tree of Life and become an ogress. the tragedy. please.
