Z Nation - Season 3 Episode 10 - Murphy forces 10K into Knife Game using Mind Control (2/3)
Hands
- Grasping for balance at the restraints that hold them upright as they're beaten or whipped
- Buried in the whumpees hair, giving them a good tug, drawing an involuntary gasp from their lips
- Grasping the whumpers clothes, pleading
- Holding a swab of disinfectant to the wound and stilling the whumpees flinches gently but resolutely
- Bloody and chafed from struggling against the rope
- Cupping the whumpees face as they lean into the first friendly touch they've experienced in weeks
- Twirling a knife, both threatening and graceful at the same time
- Lifting the whumpees chin with a single finger, because they're so scared now they will follow the smallest suggestion, eyes bright with fear
- Twitching and splaying out in their restraints as the whumpee is hurt again and again, but can't otherwise move
- Bruised and bloody, broken fingers struggling to hold the lock they need to pick in order to free their friend
- Panicked and hitting at the sudden fire, trying to smother the flames
- Suppressing a barely noticeable flinch as the knife bites into their palm, drawing blood for a spell
I love all of these, and if I may also add:
- Nails digging into their palm as they clench their fists against the pain
- Twitching helplessly as a needle is slowly pushed under the nail
- Desperately scrambling to hold onto a ledge, knowing that letting go would lead to certain death
- Squeezing the hand of a loved one as their wound is stitched in the field
- A caretaker's hand over the whumpee's mouth, stopping any pained sounds from escaping because they're hiding and they can't afford to make any noise
- Fumbling to do up a coat button in the bitter cold
- Bruised knuckles from a fight, or maybe from hitting the door of their cell in frustration
- Shaking fingers trying to apply pressure to a bleeding wound, grip weakening by the minute
- Fingers bruised and broken from being crushed under a heavy boot
- gripping their weapon, shaking slightly in pain or fear
- lingering on a familiar touch, unwilling to part
- just, shaky hands, give me shaky hands for whatever reason
- pressed to their own wound, bloody and slippery
- (Or a caretaker trying to put pressure on the whumpee’s wound but also scared to press too hard and hurt them)
- stubbornly wrapped around something precious that they will not let the whumper take
- the whumper’s hands, gripping tightly around the whumpee’s throat
- the whumpee’s hands around the whumper’s wrists trying to pull away
- or, alternatively, the whumpee’s hands clawing at their own throat
- fingers bloody from digging at the rubble that their team is buried under after an explosion
- pinned against a wall with a knife through the palm
- wrapped around the bars of their cell door
- involuntary clenching when shocked with electricity
- (Or, how about, clenching around the source of electricity so they can’t make it stop?)
- (ooh and I know you like this @straight-to-the-pain ) barbed wire restraints around the wrists
- and I always love combining my torture methods. Imagine how spectacularly the whumpee’s fingers would dance if they were shocked through the barbed wire around their hands?

Blood dripped through the whumpee’s fingers, clenched around the knife pressed against their chest. The whumper twisted the blade, looking disgusted by the whumpee’s reaction when they only tightened their grip, purposely slicing even deeper into their palm.
“The hell is wrong with you?” they demanded finally, ripping the blade from their hand and stumbling back.
“I think you’d know the answer to that better than anyone else.” they laughed, their eyes glued to the bleeding gash they’d inflicted them on themselves as the smiled. “Aren’t you going to try again?”
May I offer whumpees tied down by very thin and very strong strings? Just... tight enough that they cut into their wrists and draw blood and even though they're so thin, the whumpee still can't get escape them.
I accept your offering with great joy, thank you :)) This is a beautiful image, but also consider the ropes stopping blood flow, and the whumpee just progressively losing sensation in their fingers, wondering if they will be released before the damage becomes permanent…
Wei Wu Xian tucking Lan Wang Ji into bed is something I never thought I needed but apparently do
+also IS THIS EVEN LEGAL:
Knife Fight
Imagine a scenario where two characters are fighting. One is overpowering the other, and they've got them at knifepoint.
But then, the other just smiles and drags their palm against the edge of the blade, looking their opponent in the eye the whole time.
And just when they think they might actually have a chance of winning, the other produces another hidden blade and stabs them through the leg.
thought this self-indulgent sketch would belong on my whump blog lol
tried a painting style, was quite fun (just like this position) :D
(requests open, but for this painting style no faces and full bodies :))
Whump Them Fingers!
-Bend them backwards as the whumpee squirms.
-Step on them as they scramble across the floor for a weapon.
-Slamming them in a door as the whumpee tries to escape.
-Stomping and grinding down while the whumpee hangs from a ledge. Their teeth bared in desperation.
-The pulling of the fingernails.
-Slicing the webbing.
-Tightening them in a vice, slowly crushing the bones.
-Force them into flames.
-Burn them with a torch.
-Peel the skin from the bone with knives or potato peelers.
-Make the whumpee reach into acid or boiling water.
-A meat cleaver or jewelry saw.
-Bust them knuckles with a hammer.
-Sand off their fingerprints.
-Cram an awl under their nails while they writhe.
-Slice thinly to feed the whumper’s fish
Ohhhh fingers are so vulnerable. They bleed a lot, and theyre full of nerves. Even the toughest whumpees will sweat.
- Shove spikes into the webbing between their fingers because there’s lots of space there for sharp things.
- Hangnails and lemon juice.
- Making the whumpee count off each time you’ve broken a bone in their hand. Oh there are so many little bones.
- Bending back their thumbs and snapping them so the Whumpee can’t grab things properly.
- Holding a finger over an open flame until the skin starts to crack and hiss. One down, nine to go.
Okay, I have to reblog this version too, because all these suggestions are brilliant. Also fun to use something like acid or ethanol, that really hurts on hangnails.
Even better if the whumpee desperately relies on their hands for something…
Jumping off of that idea of the whumpee relying heavily on their hands...
Imagine they use their hands for their lifes work. That one thing they really care about. Maybe they're a musician, an artist, an inventor. They play the piano, they draw intricate, detailed artworks. Maybe they're an architect, keymaker, fine mechanic. Maybe they're working on something great.
So when they're captured, and questioned about their, say, new designs for a science experiment, or that precision lock they constructed - when they're beaten and they know they can only expect more pain coming their way, when they're cowering miserably on the floor, trying to protect themselves even though it won't do much good - they're curling protectively around their hands.
Not their head, not their stomach, not any other part of their body they'd need to protect most for their personal safety. Their hands.
Whump Trope
Rope burns
YES!
That little detail that shows that they struggled.
That little detail that shows they were captured and overpowered and tied up, and by all means, that would've been reason enough to stop, to accept defeat, to acknowledge that they did their best but it wasn't enough, and to plead with their captors to just release them when all of this was over and they couldn't be any more trouble. But no. They couldn't accept that. They could never accept that! Their friends were still out there, fighting for their cause, maybe even being in danger right now, and they needed help goddammit!
So they struggled, they pulled at the rope, they twisted and strained it and rubbed it against whatever half-sharp object they could find: a rusty old nail, a dulled down shard of glass, the rough brick wall. Again and again they tried, long after the skin on their wrists had gone red and sore, long after they'd hurt their hands in their eagerness, all scraped up from slipping with their make-shift tools, long after the pain started searing like fire and panicked tears smeared their face and blood had begun to seep into the rope which was only just beginning to fray.
Whump Trope
When they’re tied to a chair and have fought so long and so hard against their bonds their wrists begin to bleed.
