Fancy I could wax poetical on the deeper meaning but I don't think people wanna hear me ramble like a mad man again
No, no, go on 🤨
ok ok where do I start well there are many little meanings in their names The Jun in Junko is one of the halves of the word "mujun", meaning "contradiction". mukuro having the first half. and while ko simply means child the jun also means due to the way its spelled shield, alliteratively it can mean pretext meaning "a reason given in justification of a course of action that is not the real reason" now back to shield with that context of her character the brains, the insanity, the aura of mystery, she always covers herself, hides herself, shields herself under mask upon mask of personas always keeping her true self hidden under a mask of her own face, no one to ever know if the truth lost to time isolating herself like a island on the bay
and mukuro with the last name "war blade" of course it's simple as she is the ultimate solider master of war, the warrior of the mind, the last name also can mean battlefield, the way her life always was, in a way she was always used as a weapon to kill so she probably would see herself like that no will or life of her own unknow of who she could be, she lived to her name a corpse, dying, having lived her whole life relying on and livening for junko and in the end when she died she realizes, her identity would die with her as only junko would know the truth but shed lie about it meaning no one would ever truly know mukuros story, so it's like, she never lived at all…
so, in a way its symbolic of how they suppress themselves a shield hiding from the world and their true self and a blade fighting for others but never for themselves
Commissioned this from Despair_Sauce before antis ran them out of the fandom. I just fucking love my headcanon of Mukuro training Kotoko.
