truly just learn the phrase "I did not like this" instead of trying to give some moral or ethical reasoning behind why it's actually evil and morally wrong and problematic. you are allowed to just not like things because they're not good in your personal opinion, they don't have to be problematic you can just not like them
Dear tumblr, have we heard about the sweeping reforms announced by the new LA DA?? Because I read a thread by the guy this morning that actually made me weep.
Here it is if you haven’t seen it yet:
This is amazing.

Felicity Smoak deals with trauma in a few tried and true ways. This time is no different. A Season 5 AU.
Somewhere Between Paris and the Big Belly
Rated PG, Felicity’s workout gets interrupted by the Family Lance. In some alt-universe where Sara and her team altered the timeline and Laurel never died because who has time for that shit. Laurel/Felicity. 3985 words. Written because there was a scene with Felicity boxing and ehhhh because I could.
“I hate this,” Felicity said as she worked on combinations. Well, more gasped than said.
Laurel grinned. She’d shown up to the gym about ten minutes behind Felicity, and had already donned gloves and stepped over to the speed bag. She looked fresh and bright, and it was kind of unfair. “Do you really?”
“Yes. With every fiber of my being. This sucks. Boxing sucks. Vigilantes with amazing arms and effortless ability to punch everything suck. It all sucks.” Felicity punctuated every word in her final declaration with a hit to the heavy bag. She felt sweaty and gross and like sandpaper rubbed away at the insides of her chest and esophagus.
“Tell us how you really feel.” Laurel laughed and fell into perfect rhythm with the speed bag.
Felicity took a second to watch, though whether she was admiring the form or just the play of muscles as Laurel hit the bag, she couldn’t tell. “You suck,” she said instead, turning back to the bag.
“It gets better,” Laurel said, but the traitor didn’t put any sympathy into her voice whatsoever.

OMG I love this story!! I don’t know how I missed it but it brings so much fluffy happy!!!

Seriously people, if you haven’t read it yet give it a try!!
@memcjo i know! I love fic recs on tumblr! ! There is a lot of little gems we have not read yet and it makes me so happy when I find new ones to read!! And @peacefulboo did an amazing job with this! ! We need fluff to compensate to all the angst we get from Canon! !
Y’all are making me blush…a lot.
This is so wonderful and heartfelt and fluffy, ya'll. You should go read it immediately, you will absolutely not regret it.
@peacefulboo replied to your post “I have 8000 words on this stupid fic (it’s not stupid, I love it), but...”
what is CALW?
Caught a Long Wind! It’s my Vigilantes in Space!AU that I stalled on early this year, and am doing NaNoWriMo to get going on again. Which worked pretty well yesterday, but I keep glancing back to this *other* fic that’s really close to being finished, and it’s testing me.

Occam's razor: the arrow writers are often bad at writing? ;)
LOL. Yep.
@peacefulboo replied to your post
I'm with @machawicket on this. They're just shitty at writing full stories.
Yes. Which is unfortunate, because now I have to find a way to fix it. -_-
@hannasus replied to your post
Yup. So many loose threads left hanging every episode you could weave them into a rug.
Hahahaha!

Thea was there and considering that they don't really stop to pick up their arrows, the baddies probably assumed the vigilantes busted in to save the mayor.
Yep, and I do agree with that. My problem with it is the fact that the Arrow and Oliver can’t appear side by side (given that Dig’s TDY), and Oliver is the least subtle secret vigilante ever (“I happen to know he’s tied up right now” - really, Oliver? REALLY?), it’s not that hard to figure out. Especially considering that Oliver disappears, the Green Arrow appears and then disappears, and then, conveniently, Oliver reappears.
I mean, I think they kind of hand-waved it in inventing a reason for Oliver to be separated from the others, but that doesn’t really hold up as an alibi when you take into account that he killed the guy who was supposed to be in charge of him, and I assume Church would try to stay in communication with the guy holding THE ACTUAL MAYOR, his most valuable hostage.
Are they blaming that on Speedy? A bunch of people saw her there, and I assume saw the Mayor take a bunch of guys out (in which case...that’s a whole lotta dead bodies to explain away as Speedy’s, who...wasn’t shooting a gun?). So I guess you could say that Speedy broke Oliver out...but noone would know that but the bad guys (unless they killed them all, again...whole lotta bodies) and Thea, who wouldn’t know that unless she was Speedy, so she wouldn’t be able to say anything?
And THEN, even if we assume that Church is kind of a shitty bad guy and didn’t know Oliver escaped (which I would assume he doesn’t, since he didn’t react to Speedy showing up?), Oliver STILL doesn’t show up with the other hostages, and the building explodes, and Oliver is nowhere to be seen (because he is off doing something stupid like hanging of a helicopter and then parachuting down with a trick arrow).
So...do they think he’s dead? (somewhere, someone in City Hall is solemnly playing ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ in memorial.) When does Oliver actually tell everyone he’s not dead? At the press conference? (And, you know, don’t even get me started on SHEER STUPIDITY of taking the few honest cops you have and putting them on TV for all the bad cops/bad guys to identify - hey, see these guys? HERE ARE THEIR FACES AND FULL NAMES WHY DON’T YOU COME KILL THEM NOW - and then giving them NO PROTECTION WHATSOEVER.)
ANYWAY.
Your fic "Thre Micros" is amazing and gutting and I'm so glad I go to read it. I'm also so glad you linked to that poem (poems?) because I'm now basically obsessed with the 1st and 3rd and am going to look into the poet. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, especially since it’s a tough fic.
I’m also really happy you checked out the poems - Britt Ashley is fantastic and has such a way with words, they get me every time.
