Represent! Guinevere Pendragon, Queen of Camelot
“I always thought she’d be quite a good queen anyway – she’s always been very noble and had a lot of humility. She cares about the people – not just the aristocracy but the people who live in the lower town, so she’s looking out for everybody.”
i've loved bbc gwaine for 13 slutty, slutty years but it wasn't until i watched eoin macken's depressing ass film (that he made with tom hopper and funded partly with donations from merlin fans 😭) called Leopard about generational trauma and gendered violence and uhhh severely messed up brothers with an oedipal complex? and a 5.7 imdb rating. the protagonist eoin plays is basically modern gwaine if he was appropriately half-dead from alcoholism and pub brawls and sick with worry over his brother percival i mean tom hopper. and the movie goes crazy with the symbolism. i'm talking the painting of ophelia floating on the water being a puzzle they work on together cutting to literal dead women floating in water leading up to the wildest mommy issues you've ever seen type symbolism. anyway it wasn't until THEN that i was like. oh i see. this guy eoin is not normal. about themes and narratives. and gwaine was his dream role of a lifetime like that's still his special guy so i just KNOW he overanalyzed him to hell and back he did all those microexpressions on purpose he took that shit SO seriously. and now i do too. now i, too, am. the gwaine overthinker.

Merlin is a wonder, but the wonder is that he's such an idiot. There's no way he's a sorcerer.

"you're too sweet for me" - hozier
what is it abt bbc merlin that makes it. linger
ppl keep talking about unfulfilled potential but that's not it for me. it's something else.
#because it didn’t end. not really#the prophecy wasn’t fulfilled. there was no golden age.#arthur hasn’t returned and they’ve never truly stood side by side as honest equals.#the knights died without saying goodbye. everyone left without saying goodbye. everyone changed without saying goodbye.#there’s so many gaps and plot holes and inexplicable writing decisions but None of them compare to the massive fucking void of that finale.#merlin is at the lake. merlin is still at the lake.#merlin is Still At The Lake and the writers had the gall to look us in the eye and say ‘That is all. Go home.’#there are tragic stories and then there are unfinished stories and this one is unfinished#with tragedy there is a finality to it even if the story ‘continues’ without an audience. but this fucking show didnt finish#and no matter how many fan-made fix-it’s no matter how many headcanons no matter how much art and creativity we do#it will not change that the show is unfinished. the book never closed the curtain never dropped we are waiting at the lake

Until you have proven yourself, and made amends for killing the unicorn, the curse will not be lifted. If you fail any of these tests, Camelot will be damned for all eternity.
Literally just made a Tumblr to scream about her. I have no clue how anything works here 🫡
a reminder of you (and me)
Ten years later, I'm still in awe of what the BBC show Merlin managed to pull off. It's a silly show. It's cheesy, over the top fantasy full of dumb gags and physical comedy. It's the most compelling tragedy I've ever experienced
