I plan to do an illustration for every other chapter in the silmarillion (once i read it) to get a deeper understanding for it and practise art.
Unfortunately i do not have the time atm to do big illustration. Fortunately Aceo is a format (6,4 x 8,9 cm) that is very quickly done and allows for fast experiments without worrying too much about fucking things up. Which is nice.
I totally forgot how much i love layering watercolour and letting it flow together and generally savouring the coincidental quality of watercolour as a medium.
At the beginning this was supposed to be one of the first elves. Just awoken under starlight but then the sky blended so nicely into the hair and now i think its more like Varda at the beginning of everything but who is to know.

Today i painted on a quite small #canvas about the size of my hand. I used a medium and that was marvelous. Its #acrylic but almost looks like oil. I highly recommend using those. Also #practice #art #instaart #painting #realism #portrait #woman #girl
