I just learned about ‘Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarfs’ yesterday, and I’m really conflicted about it.

On the one hand it’s cool that they’re attempting to make a movie about body positiviy, and fat Snow White is adorable AF. But from the two trailers and the poster-ad (and I’m aware that Chole Mortez has apologized for the tagline the campaigning ) I’m worried that the movie will use a lot of fatphobic jokes and tropes.

I do plan on seeing it, so I’m hoping it ends with her being fat and happy ever after.

I'm personally very excited about the film, I've literally been "doing some research" about it for months. Nothing weird, just checking the release date. If you want my honest opinion, I do believe it was a marketing mistake. I mean, when you dig into the film a bit deeper, it has so much potential! If they take the route of keeping Snowhite with her original physique, which I really hope they do, then her blossoming romance with Prince Merlin will hold such a positive meaning!!

Unlike the usual "girl falls in love with monster/unattractive guy" trope, which is really sweet itself, we could have a "guy falls in love with a girl who's no top model" example and that'd be just wonderful. Because even now, when people are fighting so hard for their bodies to be recognised as perfect just the way they are, there are still people who cannot approve of a chubby woman (hope I don't offend anybody with that terminology) dating/marrying a well-built man. And that's just wrong.

Not to mention, they could take the "you're telling me" approach instead of the fat joke one. Picture this, the princes complaining about being treated like freaks just because they are no longer hearthrobs, and Snowhite being like "You're telling me... I'm fully human yet I've been shamed my whole life for not having a perfect figure". Honestly, that'd be such a power move. But I dunno, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm just sayin', if Disney doesn't sell a Disney-princess-casual-clothing line based on "Ralph breaks the Internet", they will be some fucking idiots losing a Hell lot of money, because I, for one, would totally buy it without hesitation.

I mean "Nap Queen" or a Mushu based jacket, like that doesn't define a whole por of people...
