What would power ups/redesigns for cannon heroes like Chat Noir, Rena Rouge, and Carapace look like?
I don't dislike Rena Rouge's design aside from the bustier/corset thing, but it doesn't really feel "Alya" to me. Since "Flashback" would be instrumental in investigations, I looked at cartoon P.I. and detective outfits, thus, the trench coat look. I think this kind of power upgrade would be good in a story with a good Lila/Volpina vs Alya/Rena Rouge storyline going on.
I got a little less creative with Carapace's power lol. The premise of how my power ups work is that they're born from a moment - a moment of desperation, anguish, the need for a solution. I can picture a moment where all the heroes are pinned down and a poor civilian, maybe Alya, maybe Chris, has been thrust into the Seine and are unable to keep afloat. In this moment, Carapace's desperation to save them manifests in "Undertow", allowing him to encase the person safely in a bubble of water and float them out of danger.
Oooooooh, Marinette's called Alya out on revealing the whole Rena Furtive thing to Nino and how that played a part in Hawk Moth getting the miraculous!!!

Next Redesign is Alya, Rena Rouge and Rena Furtive
I think Alya’s canon design is honestly okay, just really outdated. She needed a little push into the present. An awesome fact about Alya that’s never mentioned in the show is that she’s martiniquan creole-french. I wanted her Rena Rouge hair to reflect her heritage more. I feel a little big brained for making her fox ears be a part of the headband.
Other than that I wanted her to have a more interesting silhouette, with her twin fox tails matching Ladybug’s wings. I like that matching best friend dynamic. Outside of that Rena Rouge is already a really strong design, she just needed a little updating.
Rena Furtive confuses me. To blend in and be stealthy in Paris, she picks blue camouflage? What? Camo is to blend in with nature, like leaves, which you don’t really find in Paris. And blue? To blend in with the sky? Idk but Paris buildings are usually various shades of grey. Silver Fox Alya was RIGHT THERE and they missed it. So Rena Furtif is a silver fox now. And I gave her black “trousers” to make her look like a secret agent. I wonder if Trixx turns grey to match this form too? Hmmm
You can really tell there's been a tone-shift in Miraculous when the same show that used to squeeze in as many transformations as possible suddenly only shows a transformation if there's a new holder or it's of utmost importance. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Penalteam has no transformations, despite introducing four new heroes.

The writers really said season 4 was going to be a Crowning Moment of Awesome for Alya and I'm all for it.
