I miss Lloyd in Space pt 2. Eddie gets 2 versions cause he’s my fav
As true as this is, you guys are forgetting that alien kid from Lloyd in Space.
Yes, this one.
Zoit.
They came from a species that didn't have gender until they decided which when they turned 13-14. Once the boys and girls found out, they spent the whole episode trying to convince them to choose their gender.
I mean, this looks like some pretty cool non-binary, bigender or trans in general (as it is an umbrella term) representation.
I mean, a kid that gets to decide their gender but is also pressured by society to choose what they believe is best?
Sign me tf up.
Also, the answer they gave the gang after they'd decided their gender...
Pure gold.
okay but does anyone remember that old toon disney show lloyd in space?? because it dealt with a lot of really interesting issues that didn’t seem to come up in a lot of other shows, and no one seems to talk about it, so i’m going to right now, oops
okay, so, the main group was like these four dudes and four girls (literally one human in the mix, and that wasn’t even lloyd–lloyd and all the other characters were aliens…also i might mention that i count four girls but three female bodies, since one of those bodies has two heads with completely individual personalities. it’s a thing).
so, in this one episode, a new kid comes to school! and the new kid is…a pretty perfectly androgynous alien, tbh. so the group is talking about the new kid, and the boys keep using male pronouns to describe the kid while the girls keep using female pronouns! and, like, the boys and girls start arguing amongst themselves as to what gender the new kid is!! it gets really creepy, like at one point they try to follow the kid to the bathroom to see which one they choose, though of course that doesn’t work out. bad kids, stop it.
so eventually they confront the kid!! and the kid is like, “wow guys, um, my species is genderless until a certain age–actually, on my next birthday i get to choose my gender! just a couple weeks from now!!” and that’s actually really fucking cool. but the main group still takes it as a personal thing, like which gender this kid chooses is gonna affect their lives somehow. so they fucking start competing to convince the kid to choose this gender or that, and they’re really kinda obnoxious about it! and the kid confronts them like, “i’m not really convinced you care about me as a person and i don’t think half of you will even try to be my friend if i don’t choose your gender,” and it’s a serious burn, man.
so the big day comes and the group is real contrite, man. they make a poster that, on one side, says “atta boy!” and on the other side says, “you go girl!” to show they’ll support the kid either way. so the kid comes to school (not looking any different than usual) and the group is like, “well?? we’re ready to support you!! what did you choose??”
but the kid is like, “idk guys, you were pretty obnoxious about my gender status earlier, and i’m still not feeling super comfortable with y'all, so i don’t think i’m gonna tell you.” and then the kid literally says something like, “i guess you’ll figure it out if i try to date one of you,” and then makes a little ‘yeah right’ laugh and walks the fuck away. just like that.
and no one ever talks about this show????
please tell me
i was not
the only person
who would stay up late
to watch these programs
on disney cinimagic after they were taken off of the main disney channels,
just to hold onto my child hood for a little longer every now and again.
You are not the only one
Where’s the love?
Tumblr is usually so on top of loving late 90s, early 2000s Disney Channel shows, but I can remember a few that I personally loved, and I’ve seen like nothing for them. So now, I list, in alphabetical order.
1. The Famous Jett Jackson (1998-2001)
Kid has tv show. Kid gets famous. Kid misses home and friends. Kid moves home and shoots show from there. I’m still missing what there is to not love about this show.
2. The Jersey (1999-2004)
Kids form club to watch Monday Night Football (MNFC). Kids find Jersey. Jersey lets them take over the body of famous athletes. Again, what’s not to love?
3. Lloyd in Space (2001-2004)
This show was almost perfect one of the characters was a BRAIN. Let’s go.
4. Stanley (2001-2008)
Boy has a Great Big Book of Everything with everything inside, and he goes into it to learn about animals and stuff. C'mon people.
5. Teamo Supremo (2002-2004)
They would just be chilling in class and then then rope girl would whip out her jumprope and BAM superheroes. Rope Girl, Skate Lad, and Captain Crandall. If that’s not enough for you, it was written by Craig McCracken and Rob Renzetti (powerpuff girls, dexters lab, Renzetti is head of Gravity falls now). No attention at all?
6. Teachers Pet (2000-2002)
Let me just give you the cast real quick. David Ogden Stiers, Wallace Shawn, NATHAN LANE. also shaun fleming. but NATHAN LANE VOICES A DOG AND YOU DON’T CARE? I don’t understand.
Also Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, but there’s plenty of love for it here. The others? Not so much.
remember that episode of Lloyd in Space where a new kid goes to their school and has no gender and gets to choose on their 13th birthday and is named Zoit
DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE KIDS SHOW LLOYD IN SPACE AND HOW IN THAT ONE EPISODE THERE WAS THAT ONE ALIEN THAT WAS BORN GENDERLESS AND COULD CHOOSE ITS GENDER ON ITS 13TH BIRTHDAY AND EVERYONE WAS REALLY NOSY AND DEMANDING TO FIND OUT WHAT GENDER IT CHOSE AND IN THE END IT DIDN’T TELL ANYONE BECAUSE IT’S NOBODY’S BUSINESS WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO IDENTIFY AS
THIS.
This was a good childhood
Lloyd in Space (2001-2004)
I can’t help but feel Lloyd in Space takes place in the Futurama universe
Remember when the shows on Family were actually good?
Petition to have old shows such as “As Told By Ginger”, “Pepper Ann”, “Lloyd in Space” and “The Weekenders” added to Netflix. Please and thanks.
You see this kid? He was part of my childhood
