Thought I’d post this here as well.

Remember that these things can also apply to when people change the canon sexuality or identity of characters which you shouldn’t be doing either. Again, if you were unaware of these matters (I have been as well and have had ignorant and offensive views in the past) don’t worry too much and just continue to educate yourself, apologise when you’re wrong, move on from mistakes, listen and learn.

However, if you read through all of this but still hold racist views and think it’s OK to whitewash canon black characters then don’t talk to me and keep away from me. ❤️

I don't know if this is a controversial opinion or not, and I really don't mean anything by it, but there is something about Holiday in Harmony I would like to point out.

Am I the only one who thinks DreamWorks has chosen Tiny Diamond as the Breakthrough Character of the franchise when that's just...not really the case?

I noticed this when we learned the special's subplot would be centred around him. It just feels like DreamWorks is giving him much more attention than their other new characters, you know?

I mean, I like Tiny. The concept's cute, his birth allowed the fandom to further develop as a safe LGBT+ space, and his presence shows us a new side to Guy Diamond; he as a parent.

The thing is, Tiny is popular...but not that popular.

A quick look at the tags proves that the fandom is far more interested in the other tribes and their leaders than they are in Tiny. Shouldn't the subplot focus more on them then?

I personally would find it very satisfying if the subplot was actually about Barb having to give a present to another leader. She could be nervous about it because that would force her to understand the other tribes better, something TWT didn't really make her make an effort about. Sure, she ended up accepting diversity, but she didn't really try to rectify her mistakes. This could be a good opportunity for it.

Another reason why I believe Tiny is the new breakthrough character is the fact that he was the only troll who got special content in the DVD release. The only thing the bounty hunters and other leaders got was their deleted scenes.

Of course, a part of me understands they could have just chosen him to highlight the importance of family during the holidays. It's just that I've noticed a pattern.

Rest assured I will watch the special nonetheless and surely I'll end up loving it. I just wanted to point this out to see if anyone else thinks like me.

Was anybody going to tell me Justin Timberlake wants to make at least seven Trolls movies??? I know he said they wanted three or four during his time talking to Branch's French voice actor, but this?????

Not that I'm complaining... Lol

Funk Branch

If someone could send me a picture of Funk Branch (as in, Branch wearing funk inspired clothing), I'd greatly appreciate it. You see, I know there are images of him wearing clothes like that, but I can't seem to find them. And I'd really like to have some proper references for the next chapter of Harmonising Together.

Please and thank you!

Au. What if Barb is the last rock troll?

Then I guess her role in the film would be motivated by loneliness even more.

I can imagine that, deep down, she'd only want to have more trolls like her, to have somewhere where she belongs.

Of course, we'd have to talk about why Barb's the only rock troll left.

Maybe after the tribes separated the rock trolls were found by a species of predators similar to the bergens, but much more violent and blood-thirsty. Years of wolfing down rock trolls ended with the population, except for Barb, who grew up to roam the lands all by herself.

Given this upbringing, the only way she could even come up with her original plan would be if she found the ruins of her tribe's civilization and, just like Cooper, found out there were more trolls like her.

Her plan, though essentially the same, would not only be motivated by loneliness instead of "well-meaning" extremism, but would require the extra step of finding her people's own string.

Her view on Pop could either be even more negative than her canon counterpart, or more neutral.

  • If her people left scrolls about the Pop Trolls' role in the separation of the tribes that would lead to the Rock trolls' demise, then she would feel a special hatred for them, blaming them for her troubles.
  • If there were no records of that time because they were too busy trying to survive their predators, then she would treat them pretty much like everyone else. More people to rock.

Maybe she'd convince the smaller genres (K-Pop, Reggaeton, Yodelling, Smooth Jazz...) to help her under the pretext that she'd been balancing the odds. Complaining about how unfair it was some genres were more popular than others. That way she'd be able to ambush and trap the other trolls.

Pretty much like in canon, she would open up to Poppy about her loneliness, but shrugging the Queen's concerns off because, "Who cares if I'm lonely, anyway. You're a Queen! You probably never feel alone, right?"

Except she'd tell that to a Poppy who's just learned the truth about the strings, the consequences her people's actions have brought on others, and who's never felt more alone than then.

Once Barb's defeated, Poppy doesn't hesitate to offer her to stay with them, claiming that now that they are all together again trolls won't have a problem with learning to appreciate a different type of music. Just like Cooper, a funk troll, came to be a Pop Troll.

And for the first time in forever, Barb's not so lonely anymore.
