marinette:
adrien and kagami:
hold on-
remember in loveater, in the alternate timeline, where adrien finds marinette after realizing she’s ladybug?
then he says this,
yes, this timeline is eventually reset, but i’m still wondering if that confession revealed anything about adrien. is “more than that” a reference to him acknowledging there was more to marinette than he could know (being ladybug). we’ve had multiple moments of him suspecting her role as ladybug, here his suspicions are confirmed
OR is “more than that” a reference to him actually having previous feelings for her, before her knew this information, and that it only was made clearer after finding out she actually is the same girl he has liked (ladybug)? this one is supported more by fan speculation than canon. we don’t actually know how or if he likes her in that way (unless you count the “just a friend” lines as denial????)
of course, the grey area, it could just be a mix of both. but the latter idea is interesting to me (plus a win for adrienette stans everywhere if true)... do yall know what i mean 😭 anyways, i be thinkin
I know Stormy Weather 2 get scrapped quicly by the fandom due to its clip-show nature (and bc it was broadcasted way too earlier than intended) but there were still new informations for us to take in as we get a reminder of where each character come from and if they have changed or not. And one of it was when Adrien is lead to talk about Marinette.
When comparing Marinette’s writing to the Valentine card he got, while he think he recognized her handwriting, he mentions it can’t be the case because Marinette got Luka as a love interest. And let’s not forget that Marinette’s message accompanying the parcel deliveryput emphasis on the friend part (Nathalie’s deadass line delivery not helping either). These element lead Adrien to conclude the sender the anonymous Valentine card -- to which he is extremely attached to as he had keeping it -- cannot be Marinette, that is from someone else with similar handwriting. I can’t find the proper English word here to describe his tone as he said that one last line, but there is something in it. Like a crushed hope.
And in the Puppeteer 2 car scene, we are hinted Adrien’s love for LB is holding him back, that he has yet moved on from his unrequited love. Since he mentions LB only as “the girl he loves”, all Marinette understands is he is referring to another girl than her. Marinette cannot possibly know he is referring to LB like the viewer.
So all that to say that the second option is more possible. Especially since in the Chat Blanc timeline, two in a half elements are lifted for them to be an actual couple.
Remember, in Puppeteer 2, Adrien said Marinette is a very important person for him and he is ready to do anything for her (as illustrated by the end of the Ladybug episode where he sacrifices a bit of himself for Marinette’s hapiness and safety).
So Adrien has developped feelings for both Marinette AND Kagami. But unlike Marinette, Kagami has been straightforward about her romantic feelings for him. And since Adrien has now realized his love for LB is indeed unrequited and there is no more hope for him to think she will eventually fall in love for him, he finally decides to move on and go after something more certain. Kagami loves him, so it eases a lot of stuff and he has taken a romantical interest to Kagami as well. However, he is still undecisive about this as his discussion with Kagami at the beginning of Miracle Queen informs us.
Adrien : No! I mean, yes! I mean... it’s the first time that I... I thought it would be different...
Kagami : So you are not happy?
Adrien : Yes, I am! It’s just that... I think I wasn’t really ready...
Kagami : When will you be ready?
Adrien : ....
Kagami : Your undecision is hurftul, Adrien.
He wants to move on and Kagami is there ready for him but he himself isn’t 100% ready to set in a romantic relationship with Kagami even though he likes her. In the end, he does seem to make the move, but remember the final scene is shot from Marinette’s perspective, so this undecisiveness Adrien has demonstrated at the start of the Miracle Queen, might ressurfaced for the next season.
Kagami looking at her gf redraw .3.
Do you think you'll make an analysis on Chloe based on her actions throughout season 2/3 and what happened in Miracle Queen? Call me a clown, but I still think she can be redeemed in Season 4 if this is just her reaching her absolute worst, if she tries to do it without the bee miraculous. Like how Zuko betrayed team avatar in atla at the end of book 2, but redeemed himself in Season 3.
I was waiting for the finale to fully come out either in French or in English before analyzing anything related to it. Though, I won’t lie, I did succomb and watch both parts when Miracle Queen was broadcasted orz
Anyway, to me, Chloé’s decisions and actions made sense in that finale, but this is not the end as there are two other seasons coming. So Chloé’s character is bound to continue develop like all the other characters. To the point she will redeem? That’s for her character to decide.
Will Chloé reflect on her actions and accept the consequences? Will she resign to the change? Will she try to make something positive and constructive out of this experience? Will she want to ammend because she truly regrets what she did or because she will gain something out of it?
Tbh, I’m not so sure because she won’t have any pressure to change. Everyone in Paris was under Miracle Queen’s control and don’t recall what has happened. Some might recall the wasps, but that’s it. There are only five parisians who know and remember what has happened : Chloé (at least the parts where she wasn’t akumatized), Ladybug, Chat Noir, Hawkmoth and Mayura. And toward the end, even Hakwmoth was disappointed and deserted her. Chloé’s betrayal went way farther than attacking Ladybug and Chat Noir. She wanted to take the Miracle Box for herself. And this happened when she was de-akumatized, showing her anger was still lingering like Lila back in Volpina.
The turning point of Chloé’s arc this season was obviously Miraculer. At the end of that episode, you could tell something changed in Chloé as she ripped the picture she has taken with Ladybug and how she doesn’t want to wear her LB costume anymore.
Not to mention that ever since Miraculer, Chloé was in complete denial. Ladybug explained to her why she couldn’t give her a Miraculous again, but Chloé refused to accept she won’t ever be a superhero again. That she won’t ever wear the costume AKA live the image she pictured of a superhero. She refused to accept that reality. She still hoped to be Queen Bee again. To have again the Miraculous handed to her even though it was very unlikely and because of this, she couldn’t move on.
Seriously, this season, she went from “You should ask Queen Bee for some help” during Bakerix to “I hope you remember to bring my Miraculous” in Startrain to “Bring me my Miraculous, Ladybug. I’m waiting for you!”. In the end, she is putting all responsabilities on Ladybug to give her her Miraculous.
Ladybug gave Chloé a second chance but it turned out into one more burden on Ladybug’s shoulders. While Chloé did some efforts (according to Marinette’s), everything still was up to Ladybug.
“But I did everything you ask me to!”– Chloé in Miraculer
Chloé was relying on Ladybug to tell her what she ought to do. Now, it’s true that when someone is in a learning process, you have to show them the path and give them instructions, but that’s only good at the beginning. You cannot always take the learner by the hand. They can ask for advices, but it’s also important for them to try things on their own. Take initiatives of their own, fail and learn what worked and what could be improved for next time. That however didn’t happened with Chloé. It’s just like Despair Bear. Chloé can make the effort, but once things are secure back, she falls back to her old habits.
The S3 finale is centered around loss in general. For Chloé, it was about losing her chance to be Queen Bee ever again. Denial is the first step of the grieving process. Things would have been different if Chloé had found a new purpose for herself. For example, if she couldn’t be a superhero again, then maybe she could realigned her purpose by being a civilian hero? Except her character never went through that reflection during Season 3. She was still cligning to get her Miraculous back.
For example, in Startrain, while Chloé was somewhat helpful when the Akuma appeared in the car, her normal behaviour wasn’t great at all. It was a school trip, yet Chloé chose to seat in first class and have her father acquiesce to her request as usual. She voluntarily isolated herself from her classmates. She could have fun with them during the trip but nope. She didn’t deign to find them worthy of her time and attention. She didn’t want to mix with what she judged to be the common and ordinary folk. And let’s not forget how she downright treated her supposed friend Sabrina as her slave. Chloé didn’t even bring her own baggage! It was Sabrina who was in charge of it and packed everything for her. Sabrina had to do everything like adjusting Choé’s seat or putting the sleeping mask on Chloé’s eyes. It was grotesque. Plain and simple.
Chloé definitively gained in self-confidence and self-worth while thinking of herself as Queen Bee, but she also got a bigger head along with it. She cligned to her Miraculous like it only belonged to her. That it was her rightful right. Probably because it was the source of her hapiness. Because it meant everything she wanted to be. Except hapiness isn’t given to you. You make it for yourself.
Anyway, in the S3 finale, Chloé’s feeling ressembled of a mix of anger (Loveater) and bargain (Miracle Queen). Hawkmoth did prey on her and hit the right cords at the right moment for her to side with him, but ultimately, it was all of Chloé’s decisions. She wasn’t akumatize yet. She decided on her own volition to betray Ladybug. She considered Ladybug did nothing to help her, that she was used by Ladybug. And later, she tried to steal the Miracle Box and use all the Miraculous powers for herself.
We perfectly know that when Chloé is hurt, she lashes out on others or take actions against those who dare hurt her because she doesn’t know any other methods to deal with her pain. She can apologize for her actions as shown in Zombizou, Queen Wasp and Malediktator, however she only does so to people she trusts and values. And Ladybug is not on that list anymore. And we know Chloé is a ressentful person.
But there might be one character to whom Chloé might want to apologize in the end : Pollen.
I don’t think Chloé will be able to get back the Bee Miraculous, but she might grow enough to at least let go of her desire to have the Bee Miraculous in her possession. To realize and accept she will only hurt Pollen again if she ever get her hands back on the Bee Miraculous.
At least, that is my wish for her character for the rest of the story. I want Chloé to learn some humility and accept the fact she is not a superheroine, but a superflawed human. Imo, it would be way more satisfying to see Chloé go through this kind of development than anything else.
But brace yourself. I have a feeling we have yet to see Chloé reach her lowest point. The S3 finale was just the beginning.

“Experiencing loss is a part of life. Some people lose their first love. Some lose the harmony in the relationship. Some people lose hope. Others lose patience while others lose their soul. Some lose their certainties. Some have nothing to lose.”

So a fan on twitter asked Feri if the kiss between Kagami and Adrien was real, and this was her response.
Translation: The kiss was real.
