I already know this is a stupid question but what do you mean by godfather Adrien? Because I know you don’t mean he’s marientte’s godfather in that scene and oh my god this sounds so stupid sorry I’m just confused

Hahaha. Nah, buddy; it's okay.

What I mean is that Adrien gives off this vibe of being The Godfather, I mean, the head of the mafia.

It's just... The way the scene is directed is brilliant!

The fact that the two of them are sat down and far from each other already hints that shit's about to go down.

Then he starts talking, reminding her of his warning, the one she had completely ignored, resulting in Marinette getting hurt. At the same time as he refuses to even look at her or make eye contact. And that alone would be a line from a gangster film, right before the chaos ensues.

And now he's only facing her to cut off her bullshit, for she had started badmouthing Marinette again as if she weren't aware already that Adrien knows for a fact that she's a liar.

Then he tells her what to do. It's a "favour" he's asking of her (I'll get to this in a bit), but we all know he's no longer Mr. Nice Guy, when he tells her to do this, he's ordering her to do so, and he will not take a no for an answer.

And this?!?!?

Oh, God. This is so good I don't even know where to start!

Here is where you can see the double meaning when I used "favour"; on the one hand, favours are commonly asked and done by friends; and on the other, this is no favour, this is blackmail.

You can feel it in the growl of his voice, in the sarcastic, threatening tone he uses. Either Lila does his bidding and helps Marinette out, or Adrien's done with her. And that would be her downfall, at least from her perspective.

Because, given that she doesn't know she's just another pawn in Gabriel's plan, if Adrien were to draw a line between them, he could easily tell his father why his latest "muse" is a bad influence; meaning she would lose her advantage over most people.

And that's something she can't risk.

So yeah, big Godfather energy.

ML Season 3 Rewatch: Ladybug

Production No. 324

Okay, last episode of the regular season - only the two part finale left after this!! I actually can’t believe how close to the end we are lol. I still feel like I JUST watched those episodes. This episode however, feels like a long time ago lol. I was on vacation in England when this one came out and really only watched it the one time, so I am very ready to watch it again within the context of everything else. This episode had all the plot if I remember correctly, and I’m sure everything is gonna hit so much harder after seeing everything that comes before it. I haven’t even seen this since Chat Blanc and Felix came out, so this should be fun!!

Hello. Saw your post about Marinette, Alya and Lila. Just wanna say that about Alya, just because she doesn't believe Marinette about Lila means she is a bad friend. She makes mistakes, she has flaws too, and Marinette lied to Alya before when it suited her, when she stole her phone and when she lied to the whole class in Cataclysm over what she was doing for the day, so she knows her friend isn't always truthful with her when she wants, and also overreact beyond proportion with it, there's that

Okay... I see where you're coming from, but I must let you know that the whole point of the analysis had nothing to do with Alya being a good or a bad friend.

The whole point was to theorise over possible outcomes given the circumstances that have taken place in the show; like the events of Miracle Queen or the possibility that Lila might've seen Alya transform.

And about Alya knowing all about Marinette irrational behaviour, there are still canon moments of the show that should've, at least, made Alya wonder if her best friend was onto something when doubting Lila.

For example, Alya's seen Marinette's jealous side, true. But, by the time 'Ladybug' took place, Alya shouldn't have mentioned Marinette's jealousy. Basically, because she herself witnessed her best friend completely ignore Lila and Adrien and telling her that there was no way the boy could fall for someone like her, completely calm and collected, at the very end of Oni-chan.

If that's not proof of Marinette moving on from her jealousy streak regarding Lila... I don't know what is.

And there's also the fact that Alya indeed believed Lila about her leg. Sure, she believed Marinette hadn't pushed her, but as she put it "Nobody had seen Marinette push Lila, but they'd all seen it on the floor". If she knows that Marinette didn't do it, and that there were nobody else there aside from them, is it really that hard to believe that Lila might've faked her fall?

I always like to mention a former synopsis for season 2. It mentioned Lila returning and trying to win everyone over with her lies (which clearly happens in season 3), while Marinette, Alya, and Chloé are onto her (which clearly did not happen).

See what I mean?

But I insist, I never meant to say Alya is a bad friend. Just that we may have been given hints on a change of dynamics regarding the two friends since Lila came.

Chat Blanc and Ladybug episode crossover

After the Felix episode, comes Ladybug....

Adrien is more protective of Marinette now. While Chloe is vocal about her disapproval, Lila feigns joy. Still, Adrien hasn’t forgotten Lila’s role in Oniichan and ignores her now more than ever. He doesn’t even return her greeting. Adrien realizes why Marinette must be so annoyed. Lila had been claiming to be her BFF and she couldn’t use proof to expose her.

Adrien tells Wayhem the news. Wayhem is happy for Adrien and is excited to meet Marinette, but he cautions Adrien to keep Marinette off social accounts and their relationship low-key. As president of Adrien’s biggest fan club, Wayhem knows that the majority of fans will target Marinette. So he will do his best to ready them for the news. Adrien also complains to Wayhem about Lila, annoyed that she keeps getting into his personal space.

Speak of the devil, Gabriel makes it clear he expects Lila to take care of his son’s Girlfriend.

What would have happened when Lila accused Marinette? Pretty sure Adrien would have been more vocal about defending Marinette and would have confronted Lila at school. Only this time he’s smarter about it. He convinces Lila to admit she was lying and records it.

He is really mad at Lila but knows he has to be smart about exposing her because she lies too well. But her actions nearly got Ladybug akumatized. (Adrien’s heart had stopped when he saw her reach up to take off her earrings. When the akumas vanished, Adrien had hugged her in relief until Damocles the stupid had decided to proceed with the expulsion parade.)

Then he has to deal with Sentibug. Yeah, Chat would love to believe that this was Ladybug if it weren’t for the fact that she would also be cheating on Adrien. So he isn’t fooled. Ladybug soon arrives to help him.

Later that day, Adrien is forced to do a shoot with Lila once his Father forbids his relationship with Marinette. Yeah, Gabriel really wants to akumatize Marinette.

However, Adrien’s unhappiness affects the shoot (and Lila works alone for her part). The shoot ends because of Plagg’s interference once Adrien lets him out of his pocket. Let’s just say Lila got knocked into the river, the camera lens are broken, and the car door is jammed so the bodyguard can’t get out. Adrien uses the distraction to run away.

Adrien decides someone higher up should deal with Lila after he had seen the injustice the faculty had given to Marinette. So he decides to meet with the school board as Chat Noir under concern about the red butterflies and number of akumas at school. He mentions Lila’s hatred of Ladybug in Oniichan and that she is a compulsive liar. Chat also said he received evidence from an anonymous source that proves Lila framed Marinette. The school board realize that with this new evidence, Marinette is innocent.

Adrien calls in Wayhem for help. Wayhem gets the fan club to harshly critique Lila and expose her for sexually harassing Adrien.

Nathalie is doing damage control when the school board announces that Lila is going to be held back a year and suspended for truancy and framing a student respectively. After Chat’s visit, they decided to check if Lila had really been overseas. Mr Damocles has been fired for incorrect management of their students. (Yeah, punishing the whole school in Despair Bear was too much). Ms Bustier is on probation. She should have been fired too but her students like her, even if her calming exercises don’t stop her from having the class full of former akumatized students.

Gabriel abandons Lila now that she is exposed and allows Adrien to resume his relationship with Marinette. Secretly he tells Nathalie to expose their relationship, hoping the fans will cause akumas. It mostly fails because Wayhem had been successful in his endeavour to prepare the fans. After the first akuma, Wayhem points out that Adrien will never want to be with the fan who tried to kill his Girlfriend and claim him as her own Boyfriend.

When Adrien wonders why Lila would frame Marinette, she finally reveals Lila’s threat. She didn’t tell him before because she was worried he wouldn’t believe her after everyone had doubted her and casted her aside to the back. Adrien feels really guilty. Marinette claims she knows Lila is guilty because...um...Ladybug passed her his father’s book (which she collected from the trash bin Lila threw it in)

Adrien hugs her and asks her to not to be afraid to tell him anything. “I will never ever doubt you, Princess.”

Gabriel plots to akumatize Marinette some other way...after Adrien cools down. Honestly, the boy gets all his dramatics from his mother.

Nathalie: says the guy who gives monologues for every akuma.

Meanwhile Wayhem finally meets Marinette and approves of her. The trio enjoy a nice dinner together and toast the downfall of Lila.

Princess Justice

If there's something that Ladybug has taught us, it's that if Marinette gets akumatised, Hell breaks loose.

And the name Hawk Moth gave her clearly reflects why Marinette would ever be akumatised; injustice. Thomas explained long ago that Marinette would be difficult to akumatise because she's very optimistic, but this season and season 2 have shown us the one thing Marinette could let her emotions cloud her mind over; paying for somebody else's wrong doings, feeling useless before that person, having anyone she trusts turned against her.

Every single time Marinette's been a potential victim to Hawk Moth, the episode followed the same pattern: there's been an important event recently or that same day, something bad happens, the person responsible blames Marinette, she's the one who has to pay for it.

Ring a bell?

Oh, right! That's exactly what happened in Zombiezou, Chameleon and Ladybug.

Considering everything I've mentioned so far, in each and every single one of those episodes Marinette could've been turned in Princess Justice. And in this case, since Gabriel was actively counting on Nathalie, we almost got Heroes' Day 2.0, only this time, Paris would be lost without Ladybug and would have to face what could possibly be Hawk Moth's greatest akuma ever; Marinette.

I think he also akumatised Sabine seperately, though I don't remember her name, and we have got to admit Sabine is a force to be reckoned with herself, so kudos Hawk Moth.

The last minutes of the episode showed that Lila's great plan to get closer to Adrien is through modelling, and probably to become famous and gain even more attention, and considering how she seems to be so pleased with herself by the fact that Marinette knows, that's probably going to bring more trouble for our girl in the future.

Maybe she'll get the chance to work alongside Gabriel and Adrien once more (he still owes her that photo shoot from Troublemaker), but she'll be forced to work with Lila as well, who will, most likely, "work her magic" to make Marinette look like the bad guy and bad influence to Adrien while she'll pretend to be, once again, the victim. Because if she gets Gabriel to coldly scold Marinette, she'll kill two birds with a stone; she'll ruin Marinette's dream of becoming a fashion designer and she'll get Gabriel to forbid her to approach Adrien ever again.

And what could be a greater injustice than that?

I'd also like to point out the possible meaning hidden behind the second part of her akuma name; "princess".

We all see where I'm heading to with this, right?

Adrien.

Chat.

Chat being forced to fight Marinette.

His friend.
His princess.

Adrien has already stated that he clearly cares about Marinette, she is one of his dearest friends. And like he told Lila, (MAJOR KUDOS ON THAT GODFATHER AURA, MY BOY) he'd already warned her, but she refused to listen.

And that could be a great C plot.

Just imagine: the aftermath of the fight, Adrien's intense and very possibly outraged feelings over being forced to fight Marinette, knowing since before he actually faced the akuma that it was all Lila's doing. Kid's gotta be livid!

So he finally tells Lila to fuck off, in front of his father, explaining that she is the bad influence who lies and manipulates people to her heart's content, not Marinette!

And because Gabriel no longer has to pretend he doesn't know she's vile for his son's sake...

Their deal is over.

Now I have a mighty need to get our girl into akuma mode...

... I might have just come up with a new fic idea...

Anyone interested?
