Silmarillion Cosplay in Hanfu(汉服)

We have thought of characters from the Silmarillion in our traditional Chinese Hanfu so we’ve worked for a long time to make it happen. Finally we did this! We did worry that it would be weird for these characters in eastern Asian costumes but it turns out that it looks ok for us.

Thank you so much to everyone in this project, especially cosplayers and photographers!

Few land-living hunters venture here. But one does. A type of dinosaur, Velociraptor. Their bodies are kept warm by feathers, but they can’t fly. They are, however, exceptionally agile. And just as well, one false step here could bring disaster.

Rating ROP Elves on elf vibes

Arondir - 5/10. Passable but would be significantly improved with nicer hair

Celebrimbor - 0/10. Looks nearly as old as my grandma and dresses like her too

Elrond - 5/10. Initially had him lower but since he is half-elven I will be lenient. I look at his hair and think of curry puff

Finrod - 0/10. Nóm the Wise more like Brent the Jock

Galadriel - 1/10. Looks like an elf, but not the Tolkien kind more like the little people who live in mushroom rings kind

Gil-Galad - 0/10. Am I looking at the High King of the Noldor or an eccentric Roman Emperor in fancy dress? Hail Caesar!

That Librarian Guy - 6/10. Actually he looks like a Vulcan but at least he doesn't look human so he gets an extra point

Idk why ROP had Galadriel say that Celeborn saw her dancing in a field of flowers and fell in love at first sight

Like I would have believed "He saw me decapitating an orc and fell in love at first sight." because at least it sounds consistent with what has been shown of her character on screen

Also the whole dancing in a field of flowers, love at first sight thing is pretty obviously ripped from Beren and Lúthien's love story

Knowing that encounter between Beren and Lúthien was based on a real life moment Tolkien had with his wife - one that had a lot of meaning and significance to him - and they literally have Beren and Lúthien carved on their graves

I dunno bout you but ripping this part of their story and sticking it onto a different couple rubs me the wrong way

Funniest thing I’ve heard so far from Rings of Power was that Feanor wasn’t mentioned cause they don’t have the rights.

“We left Valinor.” Really? You just left? Nothing… interesting happened? Nothing at all?
