A quick PSA on the Roe repeal and antisemitism:

Religion did not take away the right to vote to abortion in the US. Christofascist evangelism did. Judeo-Christian values did not lead to this decision, because Judeo-Christian values do not exist.

Judaism does restrict the right to abortion. Fetuses are not considered to have souls or personhood. Banning abortions is considered to be an infringement on Jewish liberties, and Jewish congregations are already filing suits to legally protect our religious freedom and right to abortion. [1] [2] [3]

You will see the Right suggest that America is a "Judeo-Christian" nation, and that this decision by the Supreme Court is in line with "Judeo-Christian" values. They did this with Uvalde, and they're doing it with Texas' succession. In response, you will see anti-religious and likely culturally Christian atheists blame the wrong targets. Leftists will rally against all religion. They will rally against Jews. Some of them have been aching to-- anti-Israeli sentiments breed antisemitism like wildfire, even among anti-fascist, pro-minority communities. [1] [2] [3]

On the other side, the same Christofascist Right that claims to support Judeo-Christianity is using this incident to revisit blood libel, the conspiracy that Jewish people kidnap babies to eat and use for blood sacrifices. We have already seen this used by Christian nationalists against Jewish women who support abortion. [1] [2]

Obviously, focusing on protecting people with uteruses in red states is the first priority right now. There are a dozen other top priorities surrounding abortion right now. But please remember that Jewish people are about to get stuck in a very uncomfortable middle ground. Jewish people will face hatred from the Right because they think we eat babies. Jewish people will face hatred from the Left because they think we're responsible for the religious ideals that led to the repeal. Neither of these things are true.

Please remember to practice intersectionality in your activism. Reblog this post. Educate others who fall into the pitfalls of anti-religious hate. Speak up to protect and defend Jewish people in your community. None of this will distract from pro-choice advocacy.

Saturday morning, on the 26th of October, a Nazi walked into a Pittsburgh synagogue, shouting “All Jews must die!” and opened fire. He killed eleven Jewish people, including grandparents, husbands, wives, and a doctor remembered for his compassionate care of his patients during the AIDs crisis. Several of them were there celebrating a baby-welcoming ceremony for a gay couple’s newly adopted twins.

This was the deadliest antisemitic attack in all 364 years of American Jewish history. Jews all over the world are shaken, upset, and scared. We know that this could have been any of us, but beyond that, this attack struck at the heart of our people. We were attacked in a place of safety and sanctity. We were reminded that as Jews, we are not safe in America. And we lost eleven Jewish souls.

Some of us are grieving, some of us are angry, some of us are devastated, some of us are numb, some of us are crying, some of us are terrified, some of us are anxious, and some of us can barely walk up the stairs because this doesn’t make any sense and yet it makes so much sense because we all, on some level, imagined this was coming. Our history has taught us that our safety is never guaranteed, and over the past two years we have watched the sickening rise of Nazism and antisemitism all over the world, including in America, where, despite our history, many of us had been lulled into believing it could never happen here.

We lost a third of the world’s Jewish population within living memory. So many Jewish families, in every country, fled antisemitic violence within the past few generations. The tragedy we just experienced is visceral, it’s terrifying, it’s devastating.

So please, check in on your Jewish friends and ask how they are doing. Please, take a moment to understand and absorb this tragedy. Please, understand how this is not just yet another mass shooting (that while theoretically tragic, you don’t really have the space for another one, what with compassion fatigue), but rather an attack that pierced the heart of a group of people already carrying centuries of pain and trauma. Please, make space for this one. Please, when you talk about this, don’t use generalized language about hate and about how no one should be killed for their religion. Please speak the words: Jewish. Antisemitic. Say this was an antisemitic attack, on Jewish people. And please, keep us in your thoughts today.

Folks who aren’t Jewish, you can reblog this. In fact I’d be grateful if you did.

a jewish kid was murdered by a nazi last week in california and almost none of the articles about it are mentioning that he was jewish or that his murderer was a nazi

he was taken into the woods by someone he thought was a friend and killed. hits pretty close to home bc multiple relatives of mine, including my great-great-grandfather, were taken into the woods by their own neighbors and killed during the holocaust

I’m sick of seeing “fuck the Jews” posts from supposed “activitists” with hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

If you refuse to defend Jews as a whole from White Supremacists who are openly threatening us with annihilation because you don’t like Scarlet Johansson, Lena Dunham or Adam Sandler, you are basically saying it’s OK to throw an entire historically demonized and oppressed community under the bus due to a few prominent objectional members.  Is it OK to use that standard? No. No it’s not. And yet we are exposed to it constantly on the left. There is no excuse for it.

now is not the time to make pastel “punch nazis” edits and shirts and stickers. your performative allyship is unwanted and greatly unappreciated! now more than ever is the time for goyim to actually get active in their activism. you should be listening to Jewish people and boosting our voices. you should be calling out casual antisemitism and working on that which you harbor. it is not, it never was, and never will be the time to sit back and watch as antisemitism continues to rise. goyim can and should reblog.

stop drawing your taakos green

green taakos are antisemitic.

drawing your taakos green are is anitsemitic because of harmful depictions of jewish people including (but not limited to) green skin, hooked / large noses, looking inhuman, and being forced to wear pointy witches hats for identification. these “traits” were used in nazi propaganda to “explain the claim that the jewish people belong to an ‘inferior’ race.”

there are a lot of media forms that include these stereotypes, and i’d say it’s most prevalent in literature. this does not mean it doesn’t extend to any other form of media, including fanartists on tumblr. stop. drawing. your taakos. green.

goyim please reblog.

The states which had the highest number of incidents in 2016 and the first quarter of 2017 were:

  • California (211 in 2016; 87 in first quarter 2017)
  • New York (199; 97)
  • New Jersey (157; 24)
  • Florida (137; 41)
  • Massachusetts (125; 38)

These states also have some of the largest Jewish populations in the nation.

i love how every database including the fbi says jewish people face over 60% of religious hate crime violence even though we make up less than 1% of the population but “jewish privilege” is still an idea on the hellhole of a site

If anyone was wondering why I

Put tags like “cartoon network” or “new movies” or “2017″ or “united states” or “adventure time” or “steven universe”; It’s so that I can spread the truth to brainwashed people who may have had no clue. They may get butthurt too, but that’s fine with me (not really, but what can I do if they wish to remain in a synthetic reality with the truth bitchslapped into their faces?)

OP is a neo nazi and Holocaust denier

Context: neo nazis and fascists are now spamming the tags of popular children’s cartoons in an embarrassing attempt to terrorize minors and spread Holocaust denial propaganda.

Please boost this??!! People should know this is going on??

Do something about antisemitic hate mail, general antisemitism, and staff response on Tumblr!

For too long, Jews on Tumblr have had to deal with antisemitic hate mail, general antisemitism, and a mediocre staff response to our complaints. We have many anecdotes of antisemitism that we experience on tumblr, but we do not have data. Data can be more powerful than anecdotes when trying to convince companies such as Yahoo and Tumblr to change their ways. This is why I have created a survey about antisemitism on Tumblr (most specifically hate mail). Whether you are converting to Judaism, openly Jewish on Tumblr, or a not openly Jewish Jew your responses to this survey are powerful.

Also, it would be awesome if you would reblog this post. We need as much data as possible for effective advocacy.

Goyim please reblog! You probably have Jewish followers so that would be really helpful.

If you are Jewish (ethnically, religiously or both) or converting to Judaism and you haven’t taken this yet it would be awesome if you take it! If you are Jewish, converting, or you support Jewish people please reblog this! So far 145 people who are either Jewish or converting to Judaism have taken the survey. That’s awesome, and i’m glad so many people have taken it so far! However, we need much more data for effective advocacy. So take, reblog, spread the word!

Do you think Trump's recent comments about Muslims not being allowed to enter the country is an attempt to self-sabotage? You mentioned that you think he doesn't actually want the job!

Avatar

Sadly, no.  I think he’s speaking sincerely to the subset of people who think that following the Constitution is for girls.  There’s this weird masculinity subtext (or text) to Trump’s campaign, where he keeps positioning himself as the only candidate with “balls,” where listening to cooler heads or admitting you don’t have all the answers is symbolic castration.  So Trump doesn’t have to be good or right to stay popular with the people who like him, he has to be ballsy.

This is leading him in increasingly bizarre and Hitlery directions as the race goes on.

Plus, obviously, separate from my weird gender analysis, he’s a giant racist.

Please don’t compare people to Hitler if you aren’t Jewish or Romani. Jewish and Romani people have been begging everyone to stop making Holocaust and Hitler comparisons for years and no one ever listens or cares about our wishes. Please stop.

…I’m Jewish. I’m a *German* Jew.

And personally, I’m just fine with people making Hitler comparisons, because this isn’t using “Hitlery” to mean “really bad,” it’s using it to mean “rightist demagogue encouraging scapegoating of minority religions and ethnicities in an extremely familiar way.”

And because learning from history is important. Avoiding Holocaust comparisons doesn’t feel respectful to me, it feels like saying “all we know for sure is it’s wrong to commit genocide in Europe in the 1940s, all other genocidal proposals should be judged on their own merits.” You can’t commit to “never again ” unless you acknowledge that it can happen again.

I am the great grandchild of Hungarian Jews who fled the precursors to what would become the Holocaust, and I endorse anyone and everyone pointing out the similarities between Trump and Hitler.

I’m Jewish - my grandmother’s ancestors fled Russia in the late 1800s for England and the United States. Some of my grandfather’s immediate family and a few cousins and aunts and uncles escaped from Germany and Poland in the 1930s. My grandmother and I sat down to work on our family tree last year and entire branches just ended. Whole families cut off. Most without official dates of death or causes or locations. Just guesses. Practically a whole section of my family simply, devastatingly ended in the 1940s.

Please, please, please continue the accurate and appropriately horrifying and upsetting comparisons of Trump to Hitler. People should be upset by him. People absolutely should be worried. As much as I want to laugh at him and imagine he could never get elected, I remember my great uncle Sol telling my sister and me how people used to laugh about Hitler too. “It could never happen. He is a joke.”

It is a responsibility to remember and to guard against. It is a responsibility to look at the horrors that were committed, not by evil or by monsters, but by men. People did that. People who had families and laughed and drank and danced and celebrated and tried to wipe out entire segments of the population. Just people.

I know it’s upsetting to be reminded. I know it’s awful and horrible and painful to think about and hear about. But we have a responsibility to not let the world forget and to not let the world imagine it could never happen again.

Trump and his jingoism, his fascism, his preying and playing on fear and ignorance and his certainty that he is never, never wrong and will never back down is exactly why we say, “Never forget.”

The US Holocaust Memorial Museum has called out Trump (and his ilk), saying American has a duty to Syrian refugees. The Anti-Defamation League says Trump’s plan to seal borders against Muslims is contrary to our nation’s deepest values.

These major Jewish organizations do *not* make these comparisons lightly. But this is the point of “Never forget” – so that we can see a catastrophe coming and make sure it never arrives.

The man literally admitted that he kept a copy of Hitler’s speeches in his nightstand, which he “received as a gift, but didn’t read.” He’s drawn comparisons with Syrian refugees to the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII, considered one of the most shameful acts of our administration on home soil during that time, and has hinted that he’d like to do the same for American Muslims.

His speeches regarding People of Color are heavily sanitized, safe-for-TV diatribes on white supremacism. He’s publicly endorsed by white supremacist hate groups, including the KKK. They absolutely love him and they’re out there campaigning for him.

And he’s spouting the exact same kind of rhetoric that Hitler did during his rise to power. “Our country is no longer the glorious place it once was. We need to become STRONG again! You see that ethnic/religious group? THEY’RE to blame for all your problems! And if I’m elected, I’ll get rid of them…in perfectly legal and humane ways, of course. -winkwink-”

This isn’t “Let’s Compare A Bad Thing To Hitler;” this is “A Serious Presidential Candidate Is Literally Espousing the Same Views As Hitler In A Modern Setting AND THIS IS BEYOND BAD.”

Also, it’s a separate issue, but let’s not forget that he’s declared bankruptcy four times to get out of paying his debts, deliberately exploits loopholes to pay as little tax as possible (because he thinks the government doesn’t need more money for “wasteful” social programs even though he’s one of the richest men in the world), physically and sexually assaulted his ex-wife and then threatened legal action to bully her into recanting her statement, and has made disturbingly inappropriate remarks about his own daughter to boot. And that’s not even touching his past litanies on why poor people, non-whites, non-Christians, “the gays,” and “uppity” women are destroying America.

Bottom Line: Donald Trump is a horrible person who would make a disastrous president, and none of that is hyperbole. He is a huge glaring symbol of everything that is wrong with our country, and if he becomes President, there WILL be a disaster. And I will be emigrating to Canada.

So I am absolutely fuming. A few weeks ago, I was called to the dean’s office to discuss the antisemitic bullying I’ve been enduring since freshman year (I’m a senior now). Here’s a brief run down of some of what I’ve had to suffer through these last three years (this doesn’t even scratch the surface):

• A swastika carved into my desk, along with the words “ich haße juden” ie “I hate Jews” in German • Intentionally spit on, usually accompanied by the word k*ke, the most vile word a Jewish person can be called • Pushed into lockers/to the ground • Called a “dirty Jew” more times than I can count, usually once a day

I identified the main perpetrator by name. There is proof he is a Nazi as he has a fucking swastika tattoo on his arm for everyone to see. Close after I went to the dean, the boy I accused was called to the dean. He denied everything, and received NO punishment.

I have several witnesses to these events, he is very vocal about being a Nazi, and he is the head of a neo-Nazi gang that is very active on campus. And the administration did NOTHING. I want everyone to know that antisemitism is alive and thriving, and affects Jews everywhere every day, and the world does not care. The world remains silent.

I want people to reblog this, not just like it. Please reblog this. I want everyone to know that goyim do not and never will care about Jewish people.
