Watching the newest Adventuring Party and I'm fully realizing that Omar came to a game that was originally pitched as "kissing, and falling in love, and banging it out" with a canonically aroace character (confirmed here and here). That means so much to me. To see a complex aroace character played by an amazing, openly ace person thriving in this kind of genre is truly incredible and the last thing I'd have expected (simply cause I never would've imagined something like this could happen)

A prediction for Wuvvy's heel turn that's been lurking in my brain since the duel but seeming more and more possible with each episode:

Wuvvy: "You owe me a favor."

Hob: "Indeed. What would you have of me?"

Wuvvy: ...

Wuvvy: "Stay away from Rue."

*cue Lou and Oscar losing their fucking shit*

incredibly psyched to find out that one of my favourite IF creators is also sharing in the binx/andhera brainrot

Lol! Yes. They have infected my waking mind and will not get out (not that I want them to). I'm psyched that makes you psyched 😊

But yeah, I've always been obsessed with all things Dimension 20—and it influences my writing in many ways—but this season has quickly become my favorite. I've been left with so many emotions and words after each episode that I figured I'd go ahead and post about it for once.

I feel somewhat bad for the people who follow me for my writing, but it has encouraged a couple other IF writers to watch Dimension 20 too, so, I'll keep at my nonsense until I've infected everyone with this delightful brainrot 🙃

Love thinking about the similarities and differences between Gunnie and Squak. They're both such messy, reckless, and wild characters for completely different reasons and it's fun to draw parallels between them. For example...

Lou, sending a message last season:

"P. S. Would you want some pleasure"

Lou, sending a message this season:

"Pleasurably, Squak"

On the surface these seem somewhat similar, but, in context they couldn't be more different. One is unintentionally/accidentally asking someone if they want to hook up (thanks, Skip), the other is confidently and shamelessly establishing a covert sexual affair.

(add to that Fabian doing his chicken wing dance for other people "getting their kisses in")

Lou's note from episode 5:

Prince Apollo

A : Fuck him in the maze

(B) : Get him to give me a favor

C : {something} agree to be {either: fiancé or friend}

(D) : get the crystal heart &

Give it to him?

Circle one & return please

Can't stop thinking about how Binx dropped off their gift to Andhera—the one that said "Thank you for seeing me"—in the middle of the night, specifically so that no one could see her.

I feel like that says a lot about Binx. Yes, they're used to and more comfortable in liminal spaces, forgotten patches of darkness, but more than that, it's like she doesn't feel she deserves to be seen (as Binx specifically, not Gwyn).

And yet, Andhera has managed to make Binx feel seen and understood despite their best efforts to keep herself—her true self—hidden.

Binx and Andhera are both creatures of darkness, comfortable with being overlooked, forgotten. But staying hidden isn't an option for either of them, so they've both constructed façades that protect them and make them feel safe, finally able to be taken seriously. But these shell pals can help each other out and together can make the process of coming out of their shells a little easier, because they can see that they're not alone.

Just realized that Brennan set up the Darcy thing from the start by immediately establishing that he'd changed his outfit and was now wearing a muted overcoat. Like this man knew what he was doing and made a damn plan. I'm just picturing him sitting there while other people are talking, calculating the best way to make their entrance line up with a scene from Pride and Prejudice and I adore him for that.

First Omar hits us with the hand flex, then Brennan makes sure we have the Darcy field imagery. What's next?

A rain drenched declaration of love between Binx and rainy boy Andhera?

A scene where Rue and Hob have to explain to Boil and Blemish that they wish to be together more than anything in the world; that they are so alike and in love, even though they come from different courts and seem to hate each other publicly?

I. Cannot. Fucking. Wait.

"We just look hot."

[ID: A still from the 2005 film Pride and Prejudice when Mr. Darcy is walking across a misty moor. The image has been edited so that there are two Darcys, one taller than the other. The taller Darcy has been edited to look like Captain K.P. Hob and the shorter one to look like Andhera, both characters from Dimension 20's A Court of Fey and Flowers. /end ID]

I love the way Brennan chose to kill the rumor about Andhera:

He burns the sword token from their duel which feels like him tipping his hat and laying down his weapon to the Unseelie prince.

He then reverses the narrative, telling positive war stories about Andhera (which were probably exaggerated so he's going out of his way to make them look good).

And then he has the salt goblins mock Suntar which lowers her standing and highlights Andhera's skill and intelligence.

It's just such a beautiful moment. Contrasting it with them at the beginning of the season—like when Andhera makes the toast about getting better at a double-bladed scimitar—or even before the duel—when Hob's trying desperately to make Andhera look bad in front of the assembled courts—you can really see how far they've come.

Their relationship has changed completely and not in a way which feels rushed or forced. We're only six episodes in. That's wild. I feel like I've been with these characters for years which is a real credit to Aabria, Omar, and Brennan's skills (but it could also be some fey time fuckery, I wouldn't doubt that this cast can create real magic).

I've always loved Hob and Andhera's dynamic, but the way their friendship continued to develop over the course of this last episode was particularly delightful and heartwarming.

In summary, Hob and Andhera are a perfect example of how to execute an enemies to best friends storyline.

Waited all week for Andhera's letter to Binx and he did not disappoint.

Comparing Binx to the enchanting, magic of tide pools? *chef's kiss*

Romantic genius, followed by comedic genius:

Dear Binx,

How appropriate it is that we are on this island during this particular event. For seasides, for me, have the most incredible, small magic I experience on a regular basis.

That is of tide pools.

They are there always, but it's only til the tide has receded that you truly see the wonder that... has been there the entire time.

If you would like to speak—at any point, about anything—please know you have a friend, and the time and place are completely up to your choosing.

Just let me know.
