honestly the finale was better than what people make it sound and hear me out

i was expecting worse, i was expecting them to shove everything in one go, i was expecting to watch them try and fail to resolve everything they set up in the previous episodes. but turns out the madlads didn't resolve much. and god was it better than what i was expecting.

it's definitely true that less is more and especially more when you have such important plotlines to wrap up. there was no way they could have done that now and it's good they didn't try and mess up. they gave us a banger of a cliffhanger. they fucked up the status quo and said 'woooh wouldn't it be craaazy if this happened?' and my mind was blown

make no mistakes, this season didn't tie the threads. it wasn't a resolution that resolved things. it made things confusing. it was an end to a season but not a definite resolution and for that i think it's important that we have suspicions for the later seasons. the finale was definitely supposed to be weird and shocking and strange. i have faith that this was intentional. the heroes have lost, there is a dark force looming in the background and wow things are so good that it's definitely wrong. but even if the plotlines were confusing and strange, i would have it for the characters.

a lot of people were mad that adrien was nowhere in the finale and on the first glance, i was (rightfully) pissed because where was my boy? why wasn't he present when his shit of a father was getting his ass beaten? but really think about this about adrien and the type of character he is. if there's anything that was cemented greatly, it was that adrien finding out hawkmoth's identity leads to a lot of catastrophe happening. it's not because he will turn to bad side, it's not because he's too weak to handle it, it's not because he's dumb enough to feel remorse for gabriel. no, it's because gabriel's manipulation on adrien is what makes him vulnerable. adrien can't deal with it because this poor guy has had no breaks. he can't just attack his father esp when he learns that gabriel did it for his mother's sake, his mother that was rotting away in his basement for years. and oh his father is also rotting away because of something adrien himself did. do you see what's the issue here? that his mental health will no doubt take a massive dip and he would get manipulated again.

aside from that, him not learning his father's identity and looking up to him is something that is supposed to be unnerving. you are supposed to feel icky and weird because it is. there's no way they left that dialogue without it being intentionally creepy. you are telling me they had him and marinette try to take down gabriel and then he thinks that his father was a good guy and he even wants to be like him???? oh hell no. this is a major shit show that can in no way be real. the world is too perfect, too good to be true and there's no way it stays that way. i'm happy with the way they took a random turn and now we are in such a delicious position with the characters. adrien is under a false world, thinking of a false father and having plenty of room to deal with the consequences when the truth is revealed. do you realise what would've happen had we been given an episode where adrien finds out and he is grieving but we don't see the struggles, we just get a time skip where everything is fine now? where. is. the. conflict???? this was the perfect set up. this was so good! (no shade to ppl who didn't like it, it's cool)

if everything was resolved (which i don't see how it could've in under such a small timeframe without being rushed and sloppy), then we would've gotten such a rushed character arcs ESP for adrien!!!! i could not have enjoyed them shoving that crucial part away and skip it. it's much better to leave the room for stuff like this than to force everything in one go. less is more ppl!!

but nothing is as awesome as marinette's character now (yes i'm very happy my fav is going through a bunch of shit what's new). in all the previous seasons where she lost or suffered through a problem, she always had chat noir, she had the team and kwamis. yes, she ended up losing the team and the kwamis and master fu but there was a support system ready to help her. marinette was insecure and struggling to deal with things but she had her friends to help her. every time she doubted herself, chat noir was there to lift her up. but this was the first season where she didn't need him to tell her because she already knew. she channeled her inner chat noir and beat an inch out of gabriel (well no really but i wish). she's confident now, she doesn't need to transform, she has multiple lucky charms, she has her team, she has her chaton, she has her kwamis. hypothetically sounds the best, no? she has everything, right? right?? except no, she has basically lied to adrien about his own father, the man she fought and almost killed him in a nightmare. her intentions are good and well meant. it makes sense why she doesn't tell him because at the heart of the matter, she knows adrien's heart will break and she wants him to be happy. and this is the biggest lie she has ever told and lila of all people know this and she has all the power and intentions to use this. you realise that marinette who finally is confident in herself and her power, who has her friends, who's with adrien, has now a massive kryptonite and lila will obviously use it!!! marinette is now officially my FAV FAV character even more so!!! she got so much better now!!! can't wait for her mental breakdowns next seasons.
