About your question about whether gaming channels are "high or incredibly stupid", I think the answer is neither, because their problem is actually the other way around. They think everyone ELSE is high or incredibly stupid, or they'd never disagree. Basically, today's fans don't believe "everyone else is wrong", like previous generations did. Instead, they believe that "everyone else secretly knows we're right, but something's wrong with their heads and they just can't see things properly."
So they're just arrogant and self important then?
Yeah. I kinda agree. This is why I'm quitting Gaming as a hobby I think. It's so joyless and exhausting. Not what I want to do as a hobby.

The reaction to BG3 has made me realise how performative and shallow gamer rage is.
If any other company left their game in such a buggy, clearly unfinished state they'd be ripped apart.
7 patches in and There's still, gear that doesn't work. Bugs that can completely ruin your playthrough. Story flags that are set incorrectly.
And two of the main companions stories are doomed to forever be a fucking cliffhanger. This is the kind of shit that Bethesda and Bioware get fucking crucified for!

Someone in the notes of that confessions post tried to justify the harassment of Zoe's voice actress by saying it's "just an unfortunate part of life online". And that's the big problem with pop-culture fans: it's not that they can't admit their behavior is wrong, it's that they fundamentally don't operate under any rules of behavior where they even COULD be wrong. If others misunderstand them they're wrong, but if they harass others it's part of life. They have no standards but their own wants.
