Hey I saw you deleted most of your stuff off twitter. Just wanna check it isnt gone forever right?

Like it's on here ans insta right?

😞 because i love your art it's incredible and I'd hate for it to be lost because of a rat.

I didn't delete my account, but I deleted all my posts because while I don't expect to return there, I also don't want bots to take over my account or scammers impersonating me. I'm afraid those posts are gone for good, but pretty much all of the art I posted there was posted here too. This blog is my most complete "gallery" of everything I've posted online.

The only twitter exclusive shitpost I miss is that one Cyberpunk screenshot of the guy with the HUGE ass. But I did download my archive before nuking the account, so it should be here somewhere... Just haven't had the time to go through it all.

would buttons be a piltie or a zaunite

Avatar

He'd be a piltie. Working class, his family name means nothing and he would probably understand what the zaunites are so enraged about once he got off his high horse. (I feel like that's the closest analogy to his Fallout lore as a Vault dweller.) Perhaps one bad decision or mistake away from being kicked out from Piltover and into Zaun. Meg would be a young business owner with her family, not sure on which side though. I assume she would be near Buttons' level - oppressed by bureaucracy and increasingly dissatisfied with the rampant corruption that can be felt both as a citizen and as a small business owner.

Hi Galoo! I love your art, especially the way that you stylize likenesses to fit your style but at the same time keep the original character recognizable. Any chance you have any tips or a tutorial on that?

It helps to have a firm idea of what your character looks like: collect pics of their faceclaim, notice if an actor/person has features like them - even if it's just a detail like a nose or eyebrow shape. If you draw the same person a lot, this will become easier. If you can sculpt them in 3D, even better. When I want to emulate a style, I like to first look for characters that are similar to mine in that style. They don't have to look exactly like them, juts close enough that I can assess how certain features are shaded, what details they like to emphasize etc. Arcane has all sorts of characters but most humans have a similar kind of painted face texture.

It's way more difficult to do this when there are absolutely no characters to reference who look at least a little like yours. You can tell I didn't have too much to go on with a few of these Buttons...

I want you to know, I can't listen to Red Flags without seeing your OCs. 🤣 Musical echolalia has been going brrrrr all week!

GOOD

In all honesty, I should really be working on a new video but I've been in a big nasty art block for like a year now (Tom's been very understanding :'O ). My commissioners/patrons are definitely feeling this too. And my bank account ahaha :') Someone kick my ass!!!!

I've been trying to be productive in something else at least. I decided to bite the bullet and start on a full body character - I'm still nowhere near done with the sculpt, but it's... something <_<

(he's my D&D/BG3 Dragonborn, Vaik)

So uhhh yeah MY GOD I want to make stuff so bad, I just need to... make it.

Can I peep your method on how you draw noses? I'm struggling to figure out something that works for me 😭

Avatar

First off, I looooove references. 3D model, photo refs, taking pics myself. Can't have too many refs. Take my stream of consciousness, as usual for these types of posts:

For a cartoony style you really don't need to go ham on realistic shapes of cartilage and you can simplify stuff. I collected a few pics from different animated media to show what I mean:

These noses are all very 3D but they're all conveyed with such few lines! Even in the anime ones, most of the work in making them look 3D is done by shading.

When I first started drawing cartoony people, I had a really hard time with noses. Looking at how they're done in cartoons with visuals I like and copying real life people in a simplified manner helped me learn. (And obviously life studies and looking at anatomy/art anatomy books.)

I think you're on the right path based on your doodles! Either of those noses would fit the head you drew on the bottom, it's the angle you need to nail to make it fit.

I have so many wonderful attacks to go through already! No wonder I'm almost always on the losing team lol

The other week someone on Instagram left a comment under my ArtFight drawings along the lines of "I want to attack you" and Instagram fuckin hid their comment
