I'm imagining the Daniel ties Wren down before brushing his hair. I know Wren will sit still if he’s threatened, but I like the image of Jim being tied up and coddled
Oh yeah, it's a very nice mental image! Wren would say that the restraints aren't needed, and Daniel would just reply with a matter-of-fact "I know". There's no convincing him when he's set on his ideas, and he finda Wren restrained and fuming very entertaining.
Also @whumpsday come collect your man.
Did finding out that Wren was a victim of Nathaniel too change how Daniel acted at all?
He stopped calling Wren an idiot, eventually, and would never throw him outside during a storm again; he doesn’t tease him about his phobia anymore either. Of course, most of that is for his own goals, because he gets to comfort Wren when he’s at his most vulnerable, after all.
:00 1 for wren and 5 for daniel? -ihaventwritteninsolong
1. what are their non-trauma-related nightmares like? humiliation, abandonment, confusion? write a realistic dream (trippy and weird and vague)
Wren’s nightmares involved him being humiliated in front of the other rangers, or the civilians he was protecting. He was always scared of being infantilized, so in his dreams he’d be younger, his voice would be that pre-voice change, his uniform would be a couple sizes too big. One time he dreamed that in the middle of a mission he realized that his gun was a toy, plastic, in neon colors. As for the weirdest, trippiest dream?
“Follow me!”, he shouts. Adrenaline rushes through him as he runs towards the attacked colony. Or the building threatenng to collapse? Or...? It doesn’t matter. He has to be somewhere, and he’s going to get there, he knows where he’s going. Does he? There are familiar sounds, gunfire - but who’s the shooter? He doesn’t know. It doesn’t matter. There are no sounds, only his footsteps, and he slows down and turns around. He’s alone. There is nothing around him. He should be somewhere, but he’s not there, and instead he’s here, he has failed, he’s on the wrong planet.
5. what are some casual sadistic thoughts that your character has?
Daniel used to be super competitive back on Earth, and if someone beat him at something, he’d get extremely jealous. He wasn’t a good loser, he’d find hundreds of excuses and assume the winner was just lucky, and he’d usually refuse to talk to them for a while. If there happened to be a mission of sorts during that time, he used to lowkey wish for the person who bested him to get badly injured or even killed, and he used to revel in imagining them with wounds of some kind.
