And I will never forgive myself for failing to stop it. Pietro: Oh, spare me. I’m getting nauseated just listening to you all. Really, I had to do this for the sake of my own sanity. Juston: I-is that…? Pietro: Your sentinel’s central processing unit? Yes. Once I saw Emma levitating it, I switched it with a unit from one of our training robots. They’re quite similar. All faster than her eye could see, of course. And our defenses prevented her sensing my mind…remarkably, given the splitting headache your whining has given me. Juston: You…you’re a mutant. You must hate sentinels. And you still… Pietro: The heart wants what the heart wants, yours wants the sentinel…and mine wants quiet. Juston: I don’t know how to thank you. Any of you. Pietro: I do. keep your excessive displays of emotion to yourself—Ah. Oh, very well. I suppose I can stay a few moments longer.

But if you prefer, think of it as being there to protect your friends, in the event we plan some betrayal. Unless you are otherwise occupied, of course. Jeanne: No, Jocasta. We will be there. Jeanne: May I participate? Laura: If you wish. Jeanne: Those people. They were your friends? Laura: I studied with some. Shared rooms with others. I am not sure I would call them friends. Laura: [Friend] I am not even sure I understand the word. Jeanne: I am pleased to hear that. I thought i was the only one.

I’m basically gonna repeat what I said a few days about this scene. Because I saw some people had issues w/ Laura’s comments & I don’t see anything wrong with what she said. Laura is referring to the Utopia X-Kids, more specifically her former teammates: Pixie, Sooraya, David & Nori and is unsure whether she’d call them friends. And that’s okay because lbr neither of the four were ever really her friends. Sure you can argue Sooraya was, as they shared a few nice moments in the past, but there was nothing that really solidified a ~lasting friendship. I always felt for them there was potential but it was never developed into something more. And in the New X-Men series for Laura, her only actual friend was always just Cessily, but she’s not included in “those people”, she’s off at Westchester. And also Laura previously was on this huge transformative journey where her feelings for herself and for others as well changed and some feelings disappeared. And she may not feel the same way as before. So yeah, Laura hasn’t really been friends with any of them, so her comments are fine.
And in the last two panels, “I am not even sure I understand the word [friend]” I think can be misread. But Laura is not questioning her friendships she’s made with like Gambit, Jubilee, Cessily and Kiden. Laura and Jeanne are questioning what the word friend means as there is no true definition. Because both Laura and Jeanne moreso most of the time use logic and reason to make decisons and understand things, and so I think it’s fine and in character for them to wonder what the word friend means. You don’t just call someone a friend because you’ve shared a room or studied with them or were on the same team. And for Jeanne who has much trouble understanding the emotion and feeling behind things, she’s not questioning her friendships either. She views the AA kids as her friends, shown back in AA25. This is just Laura and Jeanne questioning the meaning of the word friend.

Valkyrie: Many of the Valkyrior embrace a vow of chastity. It does wonders for focusing a warrior’s mind on what’s truly important: cleaving skulls. But I recognize it can be difficult especially for youths, to ignore the natural appetites of the healthy female body. I am pleased to report one need not turn to a male for satisfaction in this area. Mortal craftsmen have devised-- Tigra: VAL!! What are you doing? You’re supposed to be teaching them to fight! Valkyrie: And so I am. To fight the oppression of the phallocentric society they live in.

Ahhh! Jeanne and Laura are too precious! “I have difficulty with emotions as well. I’ve constructed flashcards” man, this is one of my favorite lines ever. These two have to be best friends, they just HAVE to! They can sit in trees, read flashcards and talk about their feelings!
Also I’ve been seeing comments that Laura was ooc, but I don’t really think so. I thought she written fine, this is kinda how she is when she’s uncomfortable and plus she hasn’t been around a peer group in awhile. I wasn’t expecting her to be outgoing or anything. And her talking that much was just for Christos Gage to establish her quickly. So yeah, so far, I don’t have any problems with how she’s written.
But what I really like is Laura pretty much listed reasons for why they should reject her, but instead they were all welcoming to her and I love that!
