SEAL POOL

A few weekends ago, Jeff Twin, Sal and I snuck into this abandon gem of a pool.  We got there around 5pm, did some minor cleaning, and got down to business quickly after.  Pools have to be up there with my favorite to shoot/ride.  The risk factor of getting caught brings me back to being a teenager again.  Every pool is unique in the transition, the texture, the condition that it’s in when you show up.  I love riding pools because its the opposite of a skatepark.  The transition can be harsh, and abrupt.  Requiring more skill and time to get it right.  It can make a simple carve over the light in the deep end a feat.  Riding pools is a timeless part of BMX, and I’m glad I can still participate.  -KEP

XA 2 SNAPS

Made an annual trip out to Bolinas again for my birthday.  6 years in a row, i’ve done a trifecta.  Bomb Bolinas-Fairfax, ride the skatepark, and hike/swim bass lake.  We also went out to Alamere Falls which has the most water running thru it I’ver ever seen.  Even though another year has gone by, I still feel young on my birthday.  KEP

XA 2 SNAPS

this last roll is from my birthday weekend.  I spend 3 days outside on my bikes having a blast with my friends. Just the way i wanted it to be.  We raced the 8 hour up at Boggs then went straight to Bolinas to commence the annual hill bomb.  Turning 30 couldn’t of been any more rad!!   To be continued next year!  -KEP

Here’s a couple photos that I shot during the Get Rad Alley Cat.  Anthony is very tall, and his hops compliment his height quite well.  He took highest hop and the only rider to race brakeless.

Taking advantage of the California drought, we caught a session at a nice ditch with natural features.  Wolfman with a classic boneless on a warm spring day.  

XA 2 Snaps

more ammo from the xa2.  Stayed in Santa Cruz for an extended weekend.  Brought all the toys out for the adventures to be had.  The more I go down to Santa Cruz the more I love it. -KEP

WALLRIDE WEDNESDAY

We've ridden this popular bunker spot several times, and had never really looked at this curved wallride.  The run up isn't the best, but Jeff made it work!  Jeff Twin gettin all the way around this postcard spot. -KEP

Red Bull Steep Crest 2014

A few weeks ago  I was asked to build some ramps for a Red Bull race down the top of De Haro street finishing at Anchor Steam Brewery.  At each intersection there was a small kicker ramp sending you down the steep hill.  This was a pilot event, so there were several events through out the day.  Longboards, BMX, Downhill MTB, Fixed, and short boards raced down the 21% grade.  There was also a best trick event, and a long jump event as well.  All riders were required to wear full face helmets which set the tone for the day.  Aside from building the ramps, I also rode in the long jump event.  While the MTB guys were pedaling all the way down the hill leading up to the kicker ramp and jumping 67 feet, I was happy to even hit the ramp without tapping brakes coasting down the hill.  Bombing De Haro without cars has always been a dream of mine, and I'm stoked I had the opportunity to ride the street with kicker ramps too!  Props to everyone that came out and shredded and huge thanks to Brian Hapgood for helping with the construction!!  Really happy no one got hurt too.  Check out a video here. -KEP
