Teddy first changed when he was twelve. By then he had heard about people like him, people who were born as one sex but wanted to be another. He had an advantage on them: all he had to do was shut his eyes to become whatever he wanted.

Most of the time he felt like a boy but he would have some days where he wanted to grow his hair long and put on a skirt. And slowly, throughout his teenage years, he developed a new body for himself.
