In celebration of Peter's birthday today, he would have been 75, We are releasing a limited edition memorial coin. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Peter Mayhew Foundation to continue supporting causes that’ve been important to Peter & Angie. The overall design was done by Richard Gonzalez and the portrait was created by his daughter Katy.

Star Wars // Queen Amidala Paper Doll Book
Thanks to Amazon.de and a whole boatload of overseas shipping charges, I have finally acquired the Amidala perfume!
The box arrived a little dented, so sorry about that, but the packaging is so pretty and shiny. You’re not missing anything on the backside but the ingredient list. I got the 60ml instead of the 40ml because if it’s coming all that way, I might as well get the bigger version!
I put the perfume bottle itself next to the doll for scale (it’s actually significantly shorter than the box, which is weird). It’s theoretically supposed to resemble a lightsaber hilt, power button and all. The bottom portion is actually metal. The white plastic bit twists to bring down the (painted gold plastic) top portion and reveal the actual spray depressor. It’s got some heft to it!
As for the scent, well! It’s a treat. I’m not really one for super perfume-y smells. I stick to Britney Spears’ Fantasy because I love its sugary scent, and the other one I use occasionally is a petrichor-based perfume. I skip the Chanel and pretty much anything else you’ll ever find in the tester pages of a fashion magazine because they remind me of my elementary school principal who used to bathe in that kind of stuff.
However, I added this one right into my arsenal. It’s definitely got a subtle citrus scent in addition to being kind of sweet, maybe a touch of vanilla? It’s super unique, I’ve never smelled anything else like it. However, it’s quiiiite potent-- one spritz is more than enough to set you on your way.
If you live overseas or you’re willing to pay the shipping, I do totally recommend adding this to your collection. It smells lovely enough to actually use, and it’ll still look beautiful with the rest of my Queen Amidala stuff long after the perfume itself is gone.

the fact that there’s so little merchandise of Rey from TFA is already big news, and i don’t have much to add to what’s already been said.
however something i would like to do is contrast the lack of Rey merch to the relative presence of Captain Phasma merch
from my cursory browsing at wal-mart and target i have seen zero (0) Rey action figures and approximately three (3) separate figures of Captain Phasma. this is weird because Phasma is 1) a character with WAY less screen time than Rey 2) less distinct design-wise 3) ALSO a girl
so - why is it easier to find merchandise of a less significant female character who isn’t particularly visually interesting?
i’ve come to the conclusion that it’s probably because you can’t tell she’s female just by looking at her. because she looks less like a girl, she can have a stronger merchandise presence than the main character of the dang movie.
A more accurate comparison, probably, would be the ratio of Rey toys to Finn or Poe toys.
It’s always going to be a lot easier for a toy company to make figures like Darth Vader, Captain Phasma, and Kylo Ren*– regardless of their gender– because they are wearing masks.
Creating a toy with a facial likeness is very expensive because regardless of who owns the character (i.e., LFL and/or Disney), the actor owns their face, and royalties have to be paid.
The fact that there are plenty of toys featuring Finn’s face and Poe’s face, but slim to none featuring Rey, speaks way more volumes about her being left out than does any comparison with Phasma. There are probably even more toys of Maz than of Rey right now, which again, is not about gender but the fact that LFL/Disney owns Maz’s face, not Lupita.
So I’m not saying there’s not a gender problem BECAUSE OH THERE TOTALLY IS but you’re comparing the wrong toys.
*and stormtroopers, droids, clone troopers, Resistance pilots with helmets on and blast shields down, aliens, what have you

I’ve been curious for a while about what the demographics of the Star Wars fandom are here on Tumblr. This is a short six question survey of some basic demographic markers. This is not for a class or professional study, this is purely for curiosity’s sake.

Captain Gregar Typho was a Human male who served as head of security for Senator Padmé Amidala during the Separatist Crisis and Clone Wars. When Typho became Amidala’s personal bodyguard and security advisor he quickly fell in love with her, but he knew their social castes were too different for any relationship to form.
In 19 BBY, Amidala went to Mustafar to find her husband, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker—and never returned. A mourning Typho attended her funeral, feeling guilty for having let her go to Mustafar in the first place. He ultimately decided to travel to Coruscant to find her killer and avenge Amidala’s death.
Typho made it to Coruscant, and eventually came to the conclusion that Amidala had been “killed” by Darth Vader. Typho lured Vader into a trap and tried to kill him, but the Sith’s command of the Force was too strong for him, and Vader killed Captain Typho.(x)
