"We’ve had this luxury of growing this band into a situation where we are really independent from the basic rules of mainstream, or instructions of record companies and all that. So we’ve managed to make the music with as much honesty as possible for us to make them so we stand behind it ourselves and like the album. And then people seem to like them as well, all those albums. And then they go out and buy these albums, come to the shows, and have helped us to get into this status where we can continue making that thing, and actually live on it. And that very much is a two way road.”

Q: Of course, there have been previous Nightwish singers and they have left their marks on those albums. How did you find your own style but also kind of take into account the other two styles?
We caught up with Tuomas and gave him a bit of a grilling about the new album and a few other bits and pieces. (Warning: This contains small spoilers about the new album)
