Your mail-in vote - check on it

If you voted by mail in big chunks of California, in Denver's northern suburbs, or in parts of Arizona, the final breakdown of the U.S. House may come down to whether your ballot encountered any issue — and, if so, whether you 'cure' it. So be sure to look into it.

Call your county on Monday.

I have already heard from people that were told that their ballots would not be cured. County received them too late in the mail. There HAS to be someone to contact about that.

Most government offices in the US will be closed Monday, November 11th, in observance of veteran's day. calling tuesday will probably put you in touch with a real person.

It’s not a waste of time to cure your ballot. Even if the presidential election has already been determined, cured ballots can still make a significant impact in local government. This includes city council members, local propositions, senate/house memebers etc.

Even though the presidential election is important it was not the only thing on our ballots. It’s still important to have your vote count. Cure your ballot and don’t be left wondering what would’ve happened locally if you didn’t.

yo hey US people who sent in absentee ballots, they are tossing mail-in ballots for no reason. i just had to call my county board of elections and demand a cure for my ballot because north carolina didn't send out any notices of issues with ballots, and the issues are fake. if you voted by mail-in make sure your ballot was actually counted

I actually volunteered for North Carolina Ballot Curing, and I have lived in North Carolina and Virginia and know exactly how they use bureaucracy to do their petty little shit to fuck people over.

if you live in North Carolina, You can also check your ballot with the ballot tracker tool here https://www.vote.org/ballot-tracker-tools/

and then call your local registrar office, or better yet go there in person, to fix your issue. It will likely be either a signature issue or an issue with your photo ID. Be prepared for both! You are allowed to correct any photo ID issues by emailing in an issue of your photo ID. Please verify this with your registrar and get their email address.

Andrew Garfield on consent and privacy

Avatar
thespacesay

IDs: Andrew Garfield speaking to someone off screen, with the following quote split across the gifs.

There's nowhere safe anymore. People be at a restaurant or like sleeping on a plane, and you wake up and there's a photo of you sleeping in a plane online.

That's some fucked up shit. You're having a private conversation at breakfast and someone's recording it and they'll tell a gossip site about what you're talking about.

That's some fucked up shit. For a generation in a time that's obsessed, and rightly so, with consent... hum...

And I say and underline and underscore and highlight "rightly so": consent is sexy.

But why doesn't it apply to fucking violating people's privacy and personal space?

Nearly 14,000 mail ballots in Nevada have signature issues

Officials urge residents to use online tool to check if ballot was accepted

The total number of ballots — 13,906 — needing curing include 6,383 from registered nonpartisan or other voters, 4,026 from Democrats and 3,497 from Republicans.

The deadline for voters to cure their ballots is 5 p.m. Nov. 12, officials said. Ballots can be cured here.

The main issue they're having with young voters is that Nevada allows for voter registration through the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the "signatures" are digital (the licensee types it into a form), so their hand-written signatures on their ballots don't match the KEYSTROKES that serve as signatures on their license.

It would be hilarious if it weren't so fucking infuriating.

Please share so Nevada folks see this and can cure their ballots and help people close to them do so!

also, polling places aren’t opening the whole day tomorrow. make sure you know when your polling places close and open.

And remember that if the polls close while you're in line, you are still legally allowed to cast your ballot and the poll workers can't turn you away. Even if you get in line one minute before closing time, you are still in line and you have the right to vote.

🇺🇸if you are planning on voting in person, and you sometimes use a mobility aid, BRING IT WITH YOU. the lines are historically long. if you do not have a mobility aid, consider bringing something like a folding stool.🇺🇸

call your voting location, they may also have a wheelchair you can borrow depending on where you will be voting.

Curbside voting is available in many places! Notify the poll workers and they'll bring the ballot to you!

I just spent an hour in line voting and I am glad I had my walker. I don't need it for short distances but I definitely need it for standing for long periods.

Because I remember disinformation being spread around the last few elections and I’m sure assholes will bring it back:

  • YOU CAN’T VOTE ONLINE.
  • YOU CAN’T VOTE FROM YOUR PHONE.
  • IN MANY STATES THERE ARE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR BALLOT.
  • DO NOT WEAR CAMPAIGN GEAR TO THE POLLS.
  • DO NOT TRY TO PERSUADE PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE AT THE POLLS.
  • DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY KIND OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE AT THE POLLS.
  • NO ELECTION IS EVER A SURE THING, EVEN IF YOU’RE IN THE BLUEST OR REDDEST OF STATES.  IF SOMEONE TRIES TO TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN SIT THIS ONE OUT, THEY ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR MALICIOUS.
  • VOTE.

A friendly reminder to USians: if you are planning to vote on Election Day, your mantra is "Nothing I see today convinces me not to go vote."

Exit polls suggest DT cannot be caught? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Exit polls suggest KH has it in the bag? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Pundits are saying the country is swinging overwhelmingly red? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Pundits are saying the country is swinging overwhelmingly blue? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Polls can be misleading (intentionally or not). The methodology can be biased (or simply poor). Early results may not reflect what the full count will show. There may be a red mirage. NOTHING YOU SEE CONVINCES YOU NOT TO VOTE.

The biggest Democratic win in swing states means nothing if democrats don't turn out everywhere to keep the reliably blue states blue.

VOTE. Wear appropriate weather gear if you think you may have to stand in a line outside (coat, hat, gloves, umbrella, sunhat, whatever, you know where you live). Bring water and a snack and something to do (book, game on your phone, podcast and headphones, whatever, you know what you like). GO VOTE.

NOTHING YOU SEE ON ELECTION DAY CONVINCES YOU NOT TO VOTE.

Literally begging anyone who can vote in US elections to vote, and to vote against Trump. Which means voting for Harris, not abstaining or voting third party.

My family actually did move here from an authoritarian country, where voting literally didn't matter, they literally did throw out your vote, and they literally did assassinate citizens who spoke out against them.

We would all very much like to keep living in a country where those things are not the place!

You know, the same things that Trump and his stooges have openly said they want to do. And two of the main propaganda lines for why people in the US shouldn't vote, which is a lie.

Voting matters. The parties are not the same.

And make sure to vote in down-ballot races!!!

And like. The fact that voting matters in the US is a very real reason for hope. It is something you should genuinely appreciate. We can make a difference.

And a lot of people risked their lives or even died to earn that right, and it's a right not everyone has.
