The critically acclaimed West End production of “Macbeth,” starring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo, is getting a cinema release across the U.K., U.S., Australia and other select international territories.

In an exclusive first clip of the filmed version — which was shot during the play’s run at the Donmar Warehouse last year — Tennant and Jumbo passionately perform Act 1, Scene 7, where they conspire to kill Duncan, the King of Scotland, so Macbeth can take the throne. Watch the clip above.

“Macbeth” will screen in cinemas beginning Feb. 5, 2025 from Trafalgar Releasing in partnership with Donmar Warehouse. Tickets will go on sale starting Oct. 16 at MacbethDonmarCinema.com.

Phoenix & Pan's Good Omens Meetup

Saturday 5th October 2024

Greetings, beloved ineffable fandom!

On Saturday 5th October, @pannotbread and I will be in London (having seen Michael in White Rabbit, Red Rabbit the night before) and would love to host a Good Omens meet up!

Provisional plan thus far is to meet up in St James Park around midday, bring a light picnic if weather is good, take photos and be generally insane near The Bench, then head over to Sky Garden (the setting for Heaven and full of plants to yell at) for more photos ops and drinks at the bar overlooking London. In the evening, we were thinking of heading into Soho for sushi dinner and then we were going to hire a karaoke room for singing and cocktails!

Obviously because of the nature of the day we'd need to book (and pay for) stuff in advance, so right now I'm just trying to get an idea of levels of interest - so let me know if you'd be interested in coming, to some or all of it!

Please give us a wave in the comments if you are able to come so we know who to make arrangements with!

Pan and I promise to be on our best behaviour and keep the heart-eyes to a minimum (at least until the cocktails, then I cannot be held responsible for what my face does around them, lol). We are both so excited and hope that some of you lovely folks can make it!

❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷

[pleeeease reblog so we can reach as many ineffables as possible!]

Sb needs to invent the teleport quicker! 😭❤

Gabriel’s (missing) cross

Let’s put everything we know about that spooky statue of the Archangel Gabriel in one thread to make the conversation about its possible meaning as a Good Omens 3 clue more structured. Starting off with the relevant part of the official commentary from X-Ray:

Douglas Mackinnon got one thing wrong in his part of the interview — Gabriel wasn’t carved by “some guy in Italy,” but a British sculptor and prop maker David Field working as a part of the team at 3DEye in London.

Technically speaking, it’s a gorgeous piece of hand-carved expanded polystyrene with a clay sculpted head on top of it — even if the Archangel’s smug likeness isn’t that pleasant to look at, all things considered. The scenic artists from 3DEye made it look like stone afterwards.

The body itself took ten days to sculpt and is a faithful copy of the famous statue on Ponte Sant'Angelo in Rome called Angel with the Cross by Ercole Ferrata. It stands on the inscription “Cuius principatus super humerum eius” (“Whose government shall be upon His shoulder”, Isaiah 9:16), and this quote makes much more sense for Gabriel than the cross in his hands. The usual iconography of the Archangel uses a trumpet or a white lily instead.

Ponte Sant'Angelo was originally used to expose the heads of those sentenced to death — each of the angelic statues on it carry Arma Christi, the Instruments of the Passion. Like the Second Coming, what seems to be a hopeful message to the Chosen Ones can also be a warning for the others.

The statue of Gabriel, first shown in full in the cemetery scene of the Good Omens 2 title sequence, reappears at the very end as a part of the bridge leading to the biggest Easter egg — at least according to Peter Anderson, the animator behind it — which is the lift in the background, implying how we’re getting closer towards the Second Coming. Notice how the cross broke down in half at some point between these two scenes!

And it disappears in the plot as well: Gabriel’s memory depicts it only from his point of view, with the camera deliberately moving slightly to the right and stopping at his eye level. The centered, establishing shots show the statue with empty hands as a bookend.

I believe that this cross is meant to serve as a foreshadowing, a reminder of the absolution of sins and eternal life through Christ’s sacrifice and Second Coming. We see it only through Gabriel and Aziraphale’s eyes — when Beelzebub looks at the statue, the cross is not there.

As seen in the BTS photos and videos, it’s not an editing error, but a deliberate positioning of the physical props on set. The cross was clearly meant to be a removable part of the statue and displayed in a specific way to convey a message to the audience.

The question remains: is it a reassurance, something to look forward to, or maybe rather a warning?

Not helpfully at all, the traditional use of angelic imagery in Christian cemeteries matches both interpretations.

Aziraphale’s picture seems to based off of

Gustave Doré’s, “The Angel Appearing to Balaam”

Numbers 22:23 - And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way

Why is there no official Good Omens Lego? If you are someone at Lego who has ideas for Lego stuff please get on this today. In return Ash and I will finish the top floors of the Haunted Mansion.

Hi Neil! Looks like there is the possibility for there to be a Lego IDEA submitted. I'm not sure i this would have more weight coming from a fan or someone who is in charge of the IP, but there is a list of Guidelines.

Also a List of currently in-use and also restricted IPs that LEGO can't take new ideas from.

However I don't see GO on any of these. Once an Idea is submitted it has to be for just one thing (like Aziraphale's Bookshop) and from there it looks like it's something of a contest to get as much support for the Idea as possible in a certain amount of time, which I'm sure GO fans could attain. Then it gets reviewed and approved or not. Seems like a lot of work, but I think if fans could rally behind one committed flag bearer we could see it through. As long as there's no conflict in approving the IP, I think it's just a matter of the fans showing their love and support.

@fuckyeahgoodomens and of course @neil-gaiman (all hail Gaiman).

I just went on to the Lego Ideas website to check if the I.P was still the issue and it is. I made The Bookshop, The Bentley and a nice picnic for Our Boys.

I took photos and got as far as trying to upload to the lego ideas page only to get no further. The Lego Bookshop is safe in a custom built box and if I ever get the spare spoons it is my intention to share the build plans ( I might scale it down, it's massive!)

@neil-gaiman lt seems there is an IP hurdle with submitting the Lego idea? ❤

Hey, Neil. How’s it going?

Now that filming for GO2 is over I want to ask how involved you are with post-production.

Do you have a hand in the editing process, a say on VFX, music, etc.? I’ve always been curious about this.

Thank you :)

During Season 1's post-production there were only two people there on every aspect every day from the rough edit to the final sound mix. Me and Douglas Mackinnon, the director. We were there for everything. The ADR, the VFX, everything. We didn't always agree, but when we didn't we would keep going until we found a place where we absolutely agreed, and we knew it was there if we persisted. It was the most exhausting work I've ever done, and the work with the least opportunity for sleep (when you wrap up Dubbing with an actor in a Los Angeles studio at 3 am and the new titles will be screened for you to approve them at 7 am, you just keep going, doze off on sofas during the day, and you and Douglas evolve a rule that one of you has to be awake at any point in the working process).

Douglas knew what he was doing. I didn't, but I knew what I wanted it to feel like.

My dear, will you enlighten us a bit about the “coloring” of a show like Good Omens?? Is it very different from what the shot looks like IRL?

Sometimes. For example, the scene in the bandstand was shot at about 10 am on a bright grey morning, about an hour before Aziraphale and Gabriel’s jogging scene. Here’s a shot of Jon and Michael rehearsing.

The GIF shows what the colourist did. Including making the street lights glow.
