TVLine's Winter Preview - Castle
Having been banned from working with the NYPD due to his "mob ties," Rick sets up shop as a private investigator, "and part of that is driven by his desire to work with Beckett," says showrunner David Amann. In fact, husband and wife will chase the same case in the winter premiere, "and of course it will not go entirely smoothly" -- though it does do wonders for their love life! Beyond that, Episode 12 will dive into the world of telenovelas and guest-star Nathan Fillion's One Life to Live pal Kamar de los Reyes; a Ryan-centric outing is on the books for later in the season; and the February sweeps two-parter will tackle a "big case," bring back 24's Annie Wersching as Dr. Kelly Nieman and touch upon the ongoing mystery of Rick's vanishing/amnesia.
RETURN DATE: Monday, Jan. 12 at 10/9c (ABC)
When a young Latin telenovela actress is murdered, Beckett and the team delve into a case that is as flamboyant and full of intrigue as any telenovela. Meanwhile, Castle is hired as private investigator by the show's sultry star to pursue the case from another angle, on "Castle," MONDAY, JANUARY 19 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
"Castle" stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Penny Johnson Jerald as NYPD Captain Victoria Gates, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan. Guest Cast: Daya Vaidya as Sofia Del Cordova, Kamar De Los Reyes as Manuel Villalobos, Franco Barberis as Francisco Herrara, Erick Lopez as Marcus Segundo. "Private Eye Caramba!" was written by Adam Frost and directed by Hanelle Culpepper.
Robin is a HUGE #Castle fan. Can't you tell how much she loves Stana?!
Save the date — Monday, Nov. 10. That’s when ABC’s Castle is truly heading for a wedding, after Kate and Rick’s original nuptials got derailed by the groom’s mysterious vanishing. That said, the crimesolvers’ trip to the altar won’t be without one final detour, as Rick finds himself in a reality where he and Kate never met!
TVLine invited showrunner David Amann to preview this latest pre-wedding twist, tease their ersatz honeymoon and also field burning questions that still surround Rick’s disappearing act and accompanying memory loss.
Rick and Kate's long-awaited, recently-postponed wedding will go off without a hitch on Castle next month — and we have proof. A promo for the Nov. 10 episode that's slated to air tonight (but that you can watch now) offers a sneak peek at the actual ceremony, as well as the alt-universe insanity that precedes it. But wait, there’s more. The clip also previews the Nov. 17 episode — AKA the one with the Wild Wild West-themed honeymoon!
After last season’s finale shocker, the question propelling Castle‘s season seven premiere is less about whether Castle’s alive and more about his location. As fans have seen in the season’s promo, things pick up right where season six left off, with Beckett discovering Castle’s car in flames. Only her fiancé is not inside.
So while fans worry about what’s happened to Castle and Beckett works to solve the mystery, we talked with Nathan Fillion about the side of Castle he misses and whether Richard Castle will still be a wedding guy once all is said and done. Here are five teases to get you ready for the new season...
Things are going to look a little different at the top of the Castle ranks.
Creator Andrew Marlowe, who served as showrunner since the ABC procedural's first season, will hand over primary duties and responsibilities to executive producer David Amann for season seven, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
In doing so Marlowe will still maintain a day-to-day presence on Castle, as well as continue developing new projects as part of his overall deal at ABC Studios.
“Over the past four seasons, David has proven himself to be a tremendous leader and a great steward of our show’s unique voice. I’m excited to continue our creative collaboration as he assumes his new responsibilities,“ said Marlowe.
Amann first joined the Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic drama in 2010 during the series' third season, and has written nearly a dozen episodes. His other producing credits include lengthy stints on The X-Files, Crossing Jordan, Without a Trace and Three Rivers.
Heading into its seventh season, Castle continues to be a strong ratings performer for ABC. Season six saw Castle improve 3 percent over season five in total viewers, delivering its most-watched season to date.
ABC Studios has announced a release date for ‘Castle’ Season 6 as well as the box art. The season will be available on September 16th!
