Apparently there’s going to be a Disney adaptation of T. A. Barron’s Merlin series! I never read this series (not sure why, as I always meant to pick it up), but I’m so excited to see so many Merlin stories being done lately!! I know there’s a King Arthur movie (by Guy Ritchie I think?) out soon, Disney is also doing a live action Sword in the Stone, and Once Upon a Time has done an awesome Camelot arc this season (and I am absolutely loving their Merlin! he might be my favorite after Sam Neill), and then the BBC Merlin show that came out a few years ago. The best thing is that I know all of these will be the same, yet so different from each other, and I think that’s one reason these stories keep living on.
I have loved these stories since I was a little girl, so seeing all these different adaptations is making me geek out so much (like I’m trying to not jump up and down and run around the house because I’m so excited). Except I don’t like watching or reading things that are similar to what I’m writing (even though I know my version is probably very different from any of these!), but I guess that’s just motivation to finish writing my Merlin series! Speaking of which, back to NaNo…
"The Lost Years of Merlin" movie
Perplexingly just told me that they are making a new arthurian movie about T. A. Barron's book "The Lost Years of Merlin". Some other news here on Barron's website
It seems like the title will be "Yound Merlin" (? maybe) and the movie has been taken over by Disney. The last news are from March 2014 when the writers for the adaptation have been decided: Patrick Massett and John Zinman.
