International demonstration for the termination of the peace with the rich and powerful April 22nd 2017 // 20:00 // Corner of Eldenaerstr and Proskauerstr, Berlin.

Fight CG-Gruppe , Attack G20, Defend threatened Projects

The humanity and what has been defining the neighbourhoods is ultimately and irrevocably getting lost in the development of Berlins living and dwelling situation. The years of pushing back against the sell out of our habitat were not without small achievements but the general frenzy is ploughing on through the city.

The long overdue insurgence, one which goes beyond what is accepted as protests and violently intervenes against capitalist logic and it’s beneficiaries, remains absent. The wish to destroy the capitalist order keeps growing in many of us.

The last year already saw two neighbourhood demos in Friedrichshain, each time several thousand people came together and set an example for the support of rebellious projects. There have been continual attacks against the city of the rich in parallel, not only in Berlin. We’re now planning the third and maybe last orderly demonstration from Rigaer Straße. We call all those that are in favour of an uprising against party politics and monetary interests and want to fight for freedom and autonomy, to join us

Fight CG-Gruppe – obliterate new hotel-developments

Demonstrations and other actions against the new developments on Rigaer Straße between Voigtstraße and Samariterstraße have been happening for a year now. The commencement of work for CG-Gruppe is stumbling a bit but in the mean time the LIDL across the road was demolished and the construction work for new hotels has started there. What’s in store for the Kiez (local term for the close neighbourhood, its community and structures) is becoming clearer: the residential area around Rigaer Straße is meant to cede to a vibrant neighbourhood à la Simon-Dach Straße. They want our full touristic and commercial exploitation. We are just scrap in that plan

Chasing out , obliterating, preventing: this Is the vocabulary of our deepest desires

but we don’t have any other choice. Those living under the illusion a compromise for Berlin could be found – have lost their marbles . Let us be realistic, if we don’t find a weapon that can stop this development now, we will keep losing ground.

We’ll live scattered all over the city and won’t even have to think about gentrification, because everything is already sold.

What is needed now is creativity , a readiness to take risks and coordination between militant actions and public kiez-initiatives – more boring, meandering walking demos will not bring us forward.

That is why this demo should be a motivation for us and others, to force people like Christoph Gröner of CG-Gruppe , constructions and investment firms and institutions like the police and political parties to PRACTICAL responsibility.

Attack G20 – bring Kiez struggles to Hamburg

Gentrification and repression are not isolated from worldwide struggles. All over the world people are robbed of their habitat and their social and cultural context. Be it Peru, Brazil, France or China, where people are subjected to the callous lunacy of super projects, being displaced and treated like commodities.

Here a mine, there a giant airport or Olympics or here a super-city supposed to serve capitalist interests with no ifs, ands or buts.

The response to resistance ranges from brutal repression to bribery. The same logic of exploitation not only applies to people but also to nature and the whole globe. The 20 strongest states of the world meet in July for the G20 summit to perfect this logic. In the past, summits like this were also summits of resistance. This year it’s time again, a meeting of all those that want to bring their rage against the prevailing order onto the streets is announcing itself. We don’t want to be just onlookers, but properly stir it up. There are already call outs to bring the neighbourhood struggles to the Elbe-city. It’s hard to bring this concept into practise as most people don’t want to realize the connection between neighbourhood struggles and the struggles world wide. This demonstration should advertise for those to come to Hamburg that feel exploited and oppressed by city politics and get involved in elevating the tension in the run-up to the summit.

Defend threatened projects – decentralized and mass resistance on Day X

Like Rigaer94 and Rigaer as a whole, several other projects and people in Berlin are threatened by getting evicted and being destroyed. Especially Neuköllns Kiezladen Friedel54, has developed a potential for setting an aspirational example for the resistance.

Users of the shop have not been paying rent for several months after permanent threats from the corporate owner. Now the threat of eviction comes from the same party politics that have permanently attempted to portray itself as social but engages in violent displacement for years.

If there will be a new escalation by politicians or police like in the previous year, they can expect plenty of stress.

No matter whether it’s the commencemnt of building from CG-Gruppe, eviction of Rigaer94 or Friedel: our answer is a mix of mass actions and decentralized Day X actions.

When our lives are destroyed, there will be “TRÜMMERTANGO” (dance of the debris)

Burst the dreams of investors – Defend Rigaer 94

Before the demonstration the media and lots of politicians were nervous and expected a violent event on top of almost three weeks of actions in solidarity with Rigaer 94. For that they ordered 1800 cops from different parts of Germany.

The demonstration started almost on time at 21:15 at Wismarplatz in Friedrichshain with about 6000 people, after a manifestation of 45 minutes took place, where the speaker read some writings about the situation in the neighborhood these days. The first two lines were built by civil cops in yellow vests and after some cop cars before the real demonstration was visible. In the front they were holding lot’s of banners and signs. In the end it looked still organized and seemed to be a big beautiful black block.

When the demonstration reached Frankfurter Allee, the first big street, two cop cars were attacked with stones. People were showing their solidarity with fireworks and banner from the rooftop. On the way lots of people opened stones for the public and offered more chances to attack cops, who are a major enemy in the conflict about Rigaer Straße. After the first attack people took every chance to hit them again until they built a line on both sides of the demonstration in Liebigstraße. This time they started to beat up people, split the demonstration and use liters of pepper spray. But even so the attacks continued and especially the not shielded brigade of civil cops (PMS) had to run. The demo stopped just before Rigaer Straße and it was unclear if it could be continued. After a few minutes they decided to go on and passed Rigaer 94, barricaded by cops so that nobody could even think about re-squatting the Kadterschmiede. Only a few attacks on Bambiland (luxury buildings) and some cops followed, before the demonstration reaches larger streets and ended up at Warschauer Strasse, where the cops arrested most of the 86 persons.

Some people called to go back to Rigaer Strasse to keep the dynamic, attack the red zone and get back the Kadterschmiede, but why ever, almost nobody followed and most of the demonstrators preferred to stay and get arrested. After the demonstration lots of cars and construction equipment all over Berlin burned and a hundred people attacked the cops again at Mariannenplatz.

After all cops and media call it the most violent demonstration for the last five years and still don’t wonder about the reason.

Call out from housing projects of Nordkiez in Friedrichshain, Berlin:

Defend Rigaer94! Destroy the Investor’s Paradise! On the 17th of June, we published the first call out for the 9th July neighbourhood demo “Destroy the Investor’s Paradise, Stop Carré Sama-Riga!” 5 days later the landlord, cops, and Senate cooperated in the storming of the house project Rigaer94. The cops, private security and labourers evicted the autonomous collective space Kadterschmiede, the rest of the ground floor, including a workshop and garden, the attic in the back house and also the squatted attic in the front house.

John Dehwurst, who bought the house at the end of 2014, took the responsibility for this attack through a hypocritical press release from the fictitious building management. It was claimed that the evicted parts of the house would be used as living space for refugees. This would mean that the people moving in would find themselves under constant surveillance by the cops and security. At the moment such people are able to live in Rigaer94 in self determined and supportive structures. We take this propaganda as an attempt to destroy structures of resistance by cynically playing different groups off against each other. The AfD, NPD and Co. are rubbing their hands in glee at the argumentation from the South African apartheid-regime lawyer Dehwurst and the ‘Law and Order’ politics of justice minister Frank Henkel.

The dangerzone, which has operated continuously since the end of October 2015, has permitted the countless underhanded actions of police, and the direct assaults on self-organised projects which pose an unceasing threat for all of the inhabitants of Rigaer street. The partial eviction of Rigaer94 and especially the momentary loss of Kadterschmiede are attempts to displace structures of solidarity and rebellion and to replace them with capitalist city politics. Regardless we will continue to fight for self-determined spaces everywhere and for everyone!

We need places where we can come together, and organise without the need for legitimisation from the state. Rigaer Street is one of the only places in this city where people can meet on the street, discuss, argue, get to know each other and organise in solidarity and resistance. We will not just stand back and watch, as these structures are destroyed and replaced by the shiny glass facades of luxury apartments such as the new Carré Sama-Riga. The future is not yet written – The struggle continues!

The attack on the Nordkiez of Friedrichshain is an example of the inhuman politics of displacement, development and strict compartmentalisation of areas for “rich and poor” people in the cities, small states and provinces. Everywhere people are divided between useless or profitable, valuable or worthless. In the background of a society which is lurching increasingly to the right, it is important to defend the last remaining self-determined spaces, show solidarity and withstand state repression. Therefore, this is not just about our personal struggle to defend our scene spaces, but a united struggle on many fronts against exclusion, displacement and a city for the rich.

On the 9th of August, M99, the “Shop for Revolutionary Materials”, which has survived for 30 years in the heart of Kreuzberg, is due to be evicted. We should do everything in our power to keep and build the pressure leading up to and following this date. The countless actions of the last days and nights give us the strength, sharpen our hope and strengthen us in our resolve to never give up without a fight. Our solidarity against their repression!

We repeat our call for the demo of the 9th of July, now more than ever; we call out to you to struggle together with us against social cleansing, capitalist city politics, repression and the state-terror of the last months. Come to the streets and express our rage!

How we want the demonstration to be: We wish to show a decisive and powerful sign, exactly as in the demo of the 6th of February. In order to be realistic in the general political situation we have decided it was preferable to register the demonstration. Outside of this we would like to create space for different forms of action, and make it possible for people coming from outside of Berlin to take part. For these reasons we have decided to change the time of the demonstration to 9pm.

Nothing is over yet! Demo: Saturday 9th July First speeches 20:30 Demo starts 21:00 punctually Wismarplatz (near the train station U-Samariterstrasse), Berlin
