Abandoned Grand Manor House by Martyn.Smith. on Flickr.
Via Flickr: Abandoned, damaged by fire and waiting for the inevitable bulldozers to flatten this once majestic private residence in South Wales. One tower has already collapsed, along with the roof. Trees, vines and bushes are starting to blanket the ground floor.
the textures of time ~ #lptg13wk14 by carlamgk on Flickr.
Via Flickr: Halcyon Hall, Millbrook, NY I've photographed this amazing structure several times over the past few years. Built in 1863, it was originally a luxury hotel. In 1907, it became home to Bennett College for women. After many years of financial difficulties, the college closed in 1978 and the building has been unoccupied ever since. I can only imagine how splendid it was it its heyday! When I first came across it, I was able to go right up to the building and walk around it. I was even somewhat tempted to try to get inside, but my fear of falling through a floor got the best of me. When I was there last summer, the owners of the property had put up a chain link fence around it, so I couldn't get as close as I would have liked. I shot this image last weekend by climbing down an embankment, crossing a littlle stream and walking into the field in the back. The building has deteriorated significantly over the past few years, most likely as a result of the heavy snowstorms we've had in this area. more info: www.opacity.us/site11_bennett_school_for_girls.htm#gallery17 other shots I've taken: www.flickr.com/photos/carla-kurt/7352730480/in/set-721576... www.flickr.com/photos/carla-kurt/5151868345/in/set-721576... www.flickr.com/photos/carla-kurt/5151868159/in/set-721576...
