Via Flickr: Flickr Maps refer to this location as "West Coast". It may be west of the Southern Alps main divide, but the hills behind here hardly make this location "coastal"! Perhaps the other option of classifying the location as "Tasman", associated with the Tasman Sea, is just as misleading! . Whatever the name of the location, I can only imagine the hard life a colonial settler would have had setting up home here. Perhaps this was a farmhouse, perhaps it was associated with colonial gold prospecting? The owners of the farm were not at home when I called.
