#dean x amara – @frozen-delight on Tumblr

@frozen-delight / frozen-delight.tumblr.com

This is a Supernatural fan blog with the occasional other fannish post thrown into the mix. Jeremy Carver, Phil Sgriccia, Jerry Wanek and Serge Ladouceur are my heroes, whereas S12 is my personal nightmare from which I'm still hoping to wake up. I'm a multi-shipper and feminist, currently trying hard not to turn into a bitter Dean!girl.

Since Dean is a)always mean to Sam, Cas and Jack b)too stupid and emotionally stunted c)set in his toxic masculine ways d)fails to support Sam/Cas/Jack and makes them do evil things, can we agree that he doesn’t deserve the company of his saintly sensitive family and should be kept as far away from them as possible?

Maybe Amara would be interested in taking Dean with her? What do you think?

Sounds good to me.

SPN 13x05 Advanced Thanatology

This reminds me of Dean asking Amara “What do you want?” in the S11 finale, something no one else had ever bothered to ask her before. And Dean has only rarely been asked that question himself, and most of the times the person asking didn’t want an honest answer, but Billie does and Dean realises it and doesn’t quite know what to do with it, and now I’ve made myself upset...

[fic] The Gift

Dean/Benny, Dean/Amara, PG-13, 2500 words, canon-divergent during 11x23. Birthday ficlet for the lovely @frozen-delight. <3

Also on AO3!

Locked away in the dark, Amara lives off scraps.

She encompassed multitudes, once; before her brother turned his back and told her she was nothing. He conjured stars out of void and she scattered them, galaxies in a single motion, motes of light trickling between her fingers.

Now, she takes what she can get. Brief flashes of human sensation felt through the connection of the Mark. Cain’s memories of working the soil. Dirt beneath his fingernails and green shoots poking up through the earth. His anger and his fear; Lucifer’s words gentle in his ear; and then only blood. So small a life, compared to what hers once was. Amara clings to it anyway, wringing every drop of feeling from the memories. She stretches them out over eons. They stretch thin.

Everyone needs to read this! <333

The thing I probably like the most about season 12 so far is that Dean is acting a bit more unapologetic, and that he doesn’t let other people make him feel bad for something he’s doing, saying, feeling or thinking as easily as he used to. He’s been quite pro-Dean, so to speak.

So far, we’ve seen Dean:

  • answer with a very loud silence after Mary declared John was a “great father”, instead of agreeing to make her feel better
  • openly express his pain when Mary decided to leave, instead of pretending he’s perfectly fine for Mary’s sake
  • keep openly expressing his pain and disappointment over Mary leaving in the following episodes, including the next time he meets her
  • resist Sam’s Dr. Phil attempts to make Dean deal with things the way Sam wants, and instead deal in his own way
  • walk away from Mary to “get some fresh air” when he feels like he needs space, even though Mary is trying stop him
  • remain pretty much unfazed by Sam’s “I’ve been doing important stuff and you’re playing a stupid game” lecture

It kind of makes me wonder if maybe Amara’s real gift to Dean was a little boost to his self-esteem and to his ability to set some boundaries for himself…

Well, it would make sense, wouldn’t it, considering that Dean was the first person who acknowledged that Amara was right to stand up for herself.

Please, please, please let Amara come back!!! And not just to indulge my hopeless crush on Emily Swallow, who’s only making it bigger by giving such smart and awful answers about the show! <333

“One of the most well-intentioned and awkward gifts ever.” - The most perfect phrase imaginable regarding Mary’s return.

(Also, I’d totally be fine with the whole boyfriend/girlfriend thing, just saying.)

@anactorya: Not sure if this is still relevant to your professional interests, but I found it rather telling that Emily says that in the first half of S11 they hadn’t decided yet to make Chuck God. Who wants to bet that the network not only prevented them from killing God but also forced them to bring back fan favourite Chuck? And if this conflict was the reason why Carver left, I really wonder how free Singer and Dabb about the choices of where to go in S12?
