I WILL CRY ABOUT THIS FOREVER.

Dean Winchester | 10x19 “The Werther Project”
You think you’re better than me now?
You are beautiful like demolition. Just the thought of you draws my knuckles white. I don’t need a god. I have you and your beautiful mouth, your hands holding onto me, the nails leaving unfelt wounds, your hot breath on my neck. The taste of your saliva. The darkness is ours. The nights belong to us. Everything we do is secret. Nothing we do will ever be understood; we will be feared and kept well away from. It will be the stuff of legend, endless discussion and limitless inspiration for the brave of heart. It’s you and me in this room, on this floor. Beyond life, beyond morality.
— Solipsist, Henry Rollins
But can we talk about this?
I feel like we don’t talk about this enough. The way that Dean’s hand curls in fake!Benny’s coat and his expression changes and he pulls fake!Benny so close to him that he falls forward a bit when he disappears. Even knowing that it isn’t the real Benny, even knowing that it’s a hallucination created by an evil box to try and make him kill himself, even knowing all that, its’ like Dean takes this one little moment and just lets his guard drop. Let’s it be him and the real Benny in Purgatory again for two seconds. Let’s himself say goodbye.
It’s a human portal, jackass. Only humans can pass through.
I love them. {8.02}
Day 29: Relationship
Dean’s relationship with Benny is fundamentally different from all his other relationships (familial, friendly or romantic). It starts out as a strictly business relationship, and it only develops into a strong friendship because they both want it, and because they’ve learned to trust each other.
There is no power imbalance, and all the cards are always on the table. The relationship is not tinged with any sense of obligation or debt, or familial duty. They’re not pressured into it, their closeness isn’t enforced by outside factors or circumstances. There are no lies, no illusions, no impossible expectations, no blame or accusations. It’s not perfect, of course, but it is very special.
Also, in Benny, Dean finally found an appreciative audience for his jokes.
