So look...
I share my first name with my maternal grandpa - who is coincidentally a Jr., but I don't share his middle and last names and also there's a generation gap so I'm not The Third...
But that's besides the point.
My DAD who is not related to my maternal grandpa whatsoever because that would be WEIRD, is constantly mistaken for being his son.
So we have this perfect storm of having to explain to people that NO, my grandpa is NOT his father, which sets people up to try and make a funny by saying "no relation, tho, ha!" when I'm introduced... only to be told that
actually! some relation! that's my grandpa!
But wait there's more! Of course I look nothing like him, he's actually my step grandpa.
And of course with things like this, you have to walk them through this every time they see you because they forget and make the same assumptions and jokes again.

Love how imprecise american regions are. Like I say midwestern meaning the upper central blob of states, then there'll be someone with the same definition but minus missouri, and then there will be someone where "midwest" just means "just south of canada", or even just "the great lakes region"
and THEN you'll see a map of the midwestern states that is reaching its tendrils towards the ocean, claiming whatever states lie in its way.
