LOKI SERIES Episode 4
I love how theatrical this scene was.

“You okay?”
Absolutely not. I shouted, “p a i n,” at my TV screen while watching this episode!
some things never change.
If he’s going to be on his knees, he’s going to be dramatic about it and that’s fair.
It’s gone. I set it down a moment ago and it’s gone. I was looking right at it and forgot it was there.
Bestie, what did you do?
‘Can you hear me? Are you a recording or are you alive?’

Loki serie | Episode 2
This was such a pivotal moment in episode two! Loki being Loki, but also the mischief, the independence, the freedom, the split-second quick thinking of a Trickster all in one scene. It was perfect. I also love how the music compared with that of the scene when he was grieving. Not only do they sound similar, but they seem to mark every time he has a moment of growth.
In addition to Loki’s next move, Mobius was quite literally left behind. With how much he claims to stick up for this Loki (even with his own intentions in mind) that must have felt like such a huge betrayal. Maybe even like losing a friend? I think it was more similar to losing an asset, but the idea of betrayal and loss, in contrast to Loki’s escape and freedom, is there.
I know, I spent way too much time on this, but:
I’m really happy that we finally got to see Loki not only grieve, but break down his own character and be vulnerable. He lashed out in typical Loki style, it was true to character, and hilarious, but we never saw him self-reflect like we finally did in the first episode of Loki. We see how much he yearns for acceptance and how much he loves and cares about his family (Frigga, Odin, Thor, and Asgard.)
There was a devastating change in his eyes when he saw the events of his own death. Yes, he was as perturbed as one would be when witnessing their own death, but he was also absolutely devastated to see what happened to his people, Asgard, home.
In a painful addition, it was also what he needed to see to understand Mobius’ questions. It’s like the conundrum that goes: If past you know what future you does, how would you feel and what would you do differently? Catch here is: there is no doing things differently. That was his timeline, doomed to play out as such.
Then finally came the moment when he answered Mobius truthfully and said:
“I don’t enjoy hurting people. I don’t enjoy it. I do it because I have to, because I’ve had to.”
“Explain that to me.”
“Because it’s part of the illusion. It’s the cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear.”
It is week 2 of Loki and I’m back again, reblogging this to say that there’s more proof of his underlying grief in episode 2!
When Loki went over those apocalypse files while researching in the TVA, his eyes settled with tears as he read about Asgard’s destruction, Ragnarok. His people, his home... it was extinct, according to the TVA file.
What makes this scene a firm call back to his grief from the first episode, is that the soundtrack used this week, was the same as the one played when he was grieving his losses, in that room, alone. Fast-forward to our clever boy playing the “TVA lackey,” this week, he is still as devastated now as he was then, but our God of Mischief can take care of himself.
His self-preservation skills are immaculate, as are his tricks which I very much look forward to in the coming weeks!

I’M STILL NOT OVER THAT. A CHILDISH LITTLE, “SMOKEY.”

Anyone else think it’s bullshit that the TVA think that the Avengers time traveling was supposed to happen but Loki’s escape wasn’t??? We have 9 time travelers, literally, in opposed to one escape artist. Said escape artist is a god, like the three space lizards! I’m a little ticked off, but I’ll go with it!
The series is so exciting and interesting!
