Now that I'm thinking about it, the Trix's disguises in season 2 weren't even that good. Especially Darcy, cause like she still has the same vibes, tinted glasses, and eyes.

Stormy, I would walk past and not recognize.

Icy, I would recognize her just based on that smug expression.

It's really funny, how Darcy, THE QUEEN OF ILLUSIONS, has the worst disguise? Like you said, her tinted glasses, the same color palette in her clothing like in her civilian form... Also, what is with this weird hat? She looks like a fortune teller who is out for grocery shopping.

Also what kid did Stormy steal that school uniform from? It's clearly several sizes too small.

Icy rules, despite her jacket looking like the Michelin Man.

Apropos fortune teller. Darcy slayed her second disguise as one. I mean you know it's Darcy and but she looks awesome!

Let me preface this by saying I don’t hate the Trix but I’m tired of how Rainbow is portraying them. So, in turn I’m tired of them being everywhere in the show. Rainbow keeps mistreating the Trix and if the Trix are going to be involved, they need to be done justice.

Some things were leaked out earlier today which shows that the Trix are back but as minions to a bigger bad… Why the fuck does Rainbow insist on delegating them to minion/lackey? Hopefully the Trix will get a chance to shine and be the major villains in season 2 or something because this genuinely sucks.

Also, Rainbow might be using AI in concept art which is super scummy and they need to flat out stop using AI if they are.

The worst thing about Winx

One of the biggest disappointments for me in Winx was what the creators did with the Trix in the third season. There is nothing left of the strong villains from the first season. They simply became punching bags for the Winx. Valtor could clearly raise his hand against them, based on hints in some scenes. And the design of Disenchantix really alarmed me, it was too frank. But the worst thing about the episode about how the pixies defeated the witches is the complete devaluation of the villains.

Something I added into my fan fiction (SSS), and I think that makes sense, is that all faries and witches have a main emotion they use for their magic.

Sort of like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The emotion that most easily fuels your magic is the one you use most, therefore you revert to it often during fights, and with how much that emotion is used faries/witches show that emotion a lot when they’re not fighting especially when things are stressful—they revert back to the emotion that protects them during fights.

It doesn’t fully influence their personality (witches can still be happy as hell) but it is what they revert to when under stressful situations unconsciously, which is also why witches have a bad reputation even though it’s not really something one can control or change.

A main emotion can be changed, but your magic would still want to naturally drift towards it especially if the emotion and one’s magic has the same ‘vibes.’ Some elements are more powerful with certain emotions, and come more naturally with certain emotions when that emotion is used to cast a spell.

Different elements can share emotions, some just drift towards others more naturally.

°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°

Main Emotion Head-cannons

~Stella: Love for her friends and family. Light as an element naturally wants to brighten up people lives, and Stella is shown to care a lot about her freinds and her parents. In my mental head cannons sometimes she cares too much

~Bloom: Pride for herself and for where she comes from. The Dragon Flame and the fire element in general is a very bright element that is valued a lot across all planets, not just Domino. Bloom has pride for Earth where she grew up, Domino, and where she comes from because they made her into the person she is

~Musa: Protectiveness. Music as an element more so versatile-y drifts towards people, caring for people, etc, because music influences people. Musa is protective towards her friend’s wellbeing, though a lot of that also has to due do her mother’s death and the loss of her connection with her father. Hers and everyone else’s are sort of both nature and nurture

~Flora: Empathy towards everyone around her. Plantlike elements (not necessarily nature, cause our girl Stormy exists) thrive on care, since they need care to grow (I know, revolutionary.) Flora is clearly very empathetic and caring towards others in the show, and that’s why sometimes in the show she hesitates to attack because empathy and magic only really works the best if the thing/person being attacked deserves it, so not angry sea creatures

~Aisha: Loyalty to those she is close with. Water leans towards a lot of elements since lol water, but mainly very ‘set’ emotions (loyalty, determination, vengeance, etc). Water exists and has a mind of its own. Aisha is very loyal to her friends and would do anything to preserve their well-being (ie, Musa in season 2) and to her family as well. Such as Queen Lushea in season 3 when Aisha saved her instead of taking back her sight

~Tecna: Determination. Technology as an element wants to get things done and is ‘productive’ as an element. It has a job to do and it does it. Tecna is determined to get things done, make plans, and make sure things go smoothly. She is headstrong on that as well

~Icy: Ruthlessness. Again, witches use more objectively negative emotions and faries use objectively positive. I know it’s cliche, but ice is naturally cold and hard. It doesn’t have much mercy especially to those who don’t understand it/underestimate it. Icy is cold and ruthless in the show, but that doesn’t mean she’s completely cold. Ruthlessness is just the emotion she uses for her magic and the one she reverts to when things are stressful, hence why she is closed off quite a bit of the time

~Stormy: The need to cause chaos. Not really an emotion, but the emotion can be a set emotion or a need for an outcome (a need for chaos, vengeance, peace, etc). Gurl controls storms, thunder, and tornadoes so that’s an element that is very unpredictable. She is shown to be impatient and (lol season 1 when she is just lighting trees on fire) just overall chaotic

~Darcy: Control, and apathy. Psychic magic naturally drifts towards the need to have control of another’s actions, thoughts, etc. This also leads to a need to control situations, oneself, or circumstances. This is also why (in my mind) psychic faries/witches sometimes get a bad reputation, because of the emotions their magic gravitates to.

The element of darkness that Darcy has on the other hand (she gravitates more towards psychic magic though) gravitates towards more ‘hurtful’ emotions such as apathy, vengeance, suffering, etc. The darkness/shadows don’t have mercy to those who don’t deserve it. Though with her using both elements (because of being Lilith’s descendant) she has a more of a controlled apathy, still mainly leaning towards control

~Iorda (my OC and whatnot cause she’s in the story this head-cannon is cannon in): Fulfilment (positive) & vengeance (negative). She for most of her time with the Winx was a fairy and uses the emotion of fulfilment (starting from season 2 after starting at Alfea) towards her destiny as the Fairy of Dark Arts (the Trix’s magical balance, and shares the same magic as Darcy).

Her fulfilment was her way of using an emotion that her magic wanted to use (uses darkness magic mostly and rarely uses psychic, and only actually tries to harness it after the events of SSS) by having a sort of apathy towards herself, turning that apathy into a positive emotion for the need to fulfil her purpose (positive emotion as a fairy.)

When she does eventually become a witch (Lilith’s magic became too strong for her to stay a fairy, and Iorda started to automatically use negative emotions after season 6 due to emotional damage caused by le Trix, which fairy no like-y) she uses the emotion of vengeance that her darkness magic gravitated towards in season 1 when she didn’t care about using positive emotions as a fairy. She also uses this emotion during season 7 and 8 cause honestly she has a lot of vengeful feelings towards the Trix at that time, and halfway through SSS when she tells everyone that she is becoming a witch

When she still used positive emotions she was very dedicated to her purpose, and then with vengeance she became more ruthless to those who deserved it

oh I absolutely love this!!! I see it the same way.

i wonder what would be the ramifications of relying on one emotion/reaction to the point it starts influencing your personality? obv not fully, you’re still you, but it must mess with your head to be constantly - one thing. always angry, or optimistic, or resentful (or whatever else) . esp if you’re a fairy/witch that uses her magic a lot.

like, are field-active witches more at risk of a mental health crisis? or are they taught to not let their negative emotions - that often do stem from real life pain/frustration - control them, as part of training? do some fairies burnout and lose powers easier, considering positive concepts/emotions are harder to maintain? like, when bloom feels doubt and insecurity, how does she draw from her pride for herself?

i don’t know, but it’s fun to think about!

OOOO I acually love your response to this (literally thank you).

For the field-active witches I acually have an explanation: With witches who use negative emotions negative feelings are automatically used to fuel their magic. At least in my mind with this headcanon, faries are more likely to burry/be weighed down by negative feelings for this reason. My OC Iorda is actually an example of this:

The first time she almost perished it hit her hard and because she was set so hard to use positive emotions it took her longer to heal (sort of the same time it would take a human to heal through that event since, as far as I know, sadly we can't use negative emotions to throw spells XD)

The second time she almost perished when she was a witch of course the memories of the event were still horrible and traumatic, but the emotions after the event occurred weren't substantial (especially considering she used her magic a lot right after the event).

Witches would have an easier time not burying negative emotions or letting them affect them mentally because using them for their magic sort of lessens the blow a bit.

And I never thought about the burnout/running out of magic part of it for faries but I came up with an explanation:

In my mind faries/witches can still use magic with different emotions than their main one, but it's not as strong and is a bit less reliable. They can both use magic when calm, but the spells might now be as strong. So when there are no positive emotions/the emotion is unable to be used anymore while in battle they can use other emotions or just throw spells while calm.

And in time like when the Winx had to learn at Cloud Tower, witches and faries can use other emotions in times when the other is unable to respond, and sometimes it is even suggested to use the 'other emotions' especially if the respective ones are not doing well for the fairy/witch mentally (mental state, mainly trauma, can also influence the reliability of magic if one doesn't know how to deal with it, so that is important)

Witches can use positive and faries can use negative, but overtime one's magic can become unreliable since a witch's body would be used to negative emotions so using positive emotions (for a few years, like 2-3 years depending) would be like trying to force water (witch) and oil (positive emotions) to mix.

And even if the witch would stop using positive emotions there's still a lot of 'oil' in thier system---that would need some time to recover to run as smoothly as it did before since now the witch's body would be used to the 'oil.'

(I have too many headcanons regarding the magic theory omg XD)

Winx Club Darcy Headcannons

(Some swearing)

~She's farsighted (ie needs glasses to read things up close) so that's in my mind why she has her glasses in her civilian outfit and not her transformation cause there's nothing to read up close when Bloom casts fireball

~I headcanon she, Icy, and Stormy are coven sisters. They all have separate backstories in my fanfiction, and families. Darcy found Stormy and then the two of them found Icy in Magix

~Darcy was going to be the leader of the Trix but looked at Icy like, "do I look like I can take that stress?"

~As a psychic witch (same information would go for any psychic magic) she knows a lot about psychology and the structure of the brain. In my mind to manipulate someone's mind (lol) you have to know the specific structure in the brain you are trying to manipulate/how it works and the more you know that the better the spell would work

~She keeps a notebook/diary thing and just writes random notes in there the days she writes, not really entries. Example: "Stormy is gay for Musa. Not my problem. Icy's doing whatever. Darkar's an idiot. I am tired and I need fucking sleep."

~Her main hobby is drawing but (unlike Bloom) backgrounds are hell for her. Mainly draws objects or people

~She cannot pay attention to one thing. If she's drawing she needs music. If she's watching a movie or something she needs to draw while watching it (unless she's extremely invested)

~Unlike Icy or Stormy who just listens to one genre Darcy listens to anything as long as she fucks with it. I can see her vibing with songs about just un-aliving grapists or maybe that's just me projecting (-o-)

~With specific music artists I can see her listening to: Luluyam (listen to their music for goodness sake) specifically the song DIVINE CEO and Sympathy. Stella Cole, songs like Love Like Mine and Woman of the Hour. Margo (the some repeat after me has such Darcy vibes). And ZAND (specifically I Spit On Your Grave and Deliverance), Also Ashniko cause yes

~Meanwhile Stormy listens to Evanescence, Halestorm (ironically), MARINA, and also BLACKPINK AND (G)-IDLE. And Icy listens to Halsey, Poppy, AURORA, and others that I'll put in her headcanons if I ever get to one

~She doesn't hate faries without reason as much as Icy and Stormy. But if a fairy says something rude about witches (ie, adding a reason) she will tear them apart. (Her planet in my headcannon, Zenothe, was made when witches who are basically abandoned found a dead planet so insult witches and she will fuck with you)

~Her favourite book is An Anomysis Girl (is gives very Darcy Riven vibes at least to me)

~Acually cared about Riven and was afraid to let herself trust someone like that at the beginning, so part of the reason she was able to leave him so easily at the end of season 1 was because she saw him caring for Musa and all (she saw that he did a bit in the beginning cause mind reading and all) and was like: ding dong ur dead

~Is so used to Icy and Stormy knowing her presence (coven members can sense where each other are if they focus enough, because magical bond and all, might elaborate on that) so she just accidentally jumpscares people sometimes

(Might be more but...)
