Lord Alfred in S3EP04

This episode was actually interesting and Alfred had some actual scenes, and i think its the slow start to his plot in politics. The ending of this episode, even though it wasn’t drumfred related, broke my heart but i won’t give any spoilers :(.
DAAAAAMMMMMMNNNNNNNN!!
Also I know :(
Hate that they pushed him to the back like that. Do they think we're gonna forget? You can't put the genie back in the bottle, Daisy. You can't make one of the main characters who exploded your show back into a pretty plant. Even tho he's a pretty, pretty plant.
me: okay i’ve complained enough about this it’s time to put it to rest
me five minutes later: actually you know what-
Seeing people’s reactions to s3 of Victoria: all the het couples and all the kids
it’s clear that
1. drumfred overshadowed vicbert in s2 and they wouldn’t have it
2. we were right about it. Drumfred was magic.

Yep this!!
Sorry that we’ve seen Queen Victoria’s and similar love stories played out on screen and in fiction literally hundreds of thousands of times but nothing like Drummond and Alfred before.
Sorry it’s better and more intriguing and even their incredibly limited screentime seemed to overpower the title character’s massive screentime around which all plots are centered, her being in a happy marriage, owning 2/3 of the world and having a ton of healthy kids and being happy and rich and everyone loves her and literally kisses the hem of her skirt and whatever and you know we’ll take pity on THEM and never take the story as far as Albert’s death because that’d mean older and wrinklier actors to take over the lead roles and that’s just not acceptable.
Sorry Alfred and Drummond dared to take up about 2 minutes of your time per episode and still managed to tell a better story and radiate chemistry off the screen so much that they did have to kill Drummond after all because we just haven’t had enough of the Bury Your Gays trope amirite.
Sorry, resume your never-ever-ever before seen maid-marries-the-cook-in-secret storyline and the footman-cruses-on-unobtainable-duchess one and the womanizer-gentleman-shags-duchess one too, I mean, super original!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Aaanndd that’s the tea
The basic reality is that daisy is having to manufacture drama where none exists.
Feodora and Victoria were actually very close
Palmerston was a womaniser before he married - but after his marriage to Emma, Lord M sister they were extremely happy & he’s widely regarded as one of the most gifted politicians we ever had. No vicbert didn’t like him because he refused to go along with what they wanted - but what they wanted in terms of foreign policy was wrong
By 1848 Victoria and Albert were happy happy happy with no more of the early fights.
But yes please be pissed off that there isn’t even moar het romance & babies
reblogging this AGAIN for the additions by @animateglee and @templehill 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
my god the tea is HOT today. I love this fandom.

Do you want to read something that’s Drumfred and which is going to be really dumb and cheer you up? Be my guest.
Summary:
Drummond and Alfred have been seeing each other for a while and have been perfectly happy, thank you very much. However, their idyll lasts until Drummond begins to hear a man’s name mentioned all the time around Alfred, sparking jealousy in him, and a minor misunderstanding ensues.
This is just GENIUS!!!!

To me this episode was very anti-climatic.. I only liked the ending /: BUT Brodie actually had some scenes for once which i liked.
Alfred had literally like 2 scenes as you can see.. The scene of him smoking and playing cards is a huge aesthetic woW, and he seemed really annoyed at everyone during it so thats cool and honestly a mood.
Hopefully next week’s episode is more interesting like they promote it to be!
Raise your hand if you’ve adopted a unappreciated character that the writers clearly didn’t love and decided to love them with all your heart because they deserve more than what they fucking got in canon.
I thought I could deal with no Drummond in s3 but it already starts depressing, and not even because of the revolutionary time of reckoning. I see every relationship and feel bitter #itsjustatvshow. secretly I hope Joseph will fuck it up for skerettelli. And lord palmerston is so obnoxious i can't stand him. That's actually a character I wouldn't mind to get killed off randomly. Anyway.
Where half the story’s made up and timelines don’t matter.
Watching this show for historical accuracy is the equivalent of watching porn for the plot.
That being said. Unf Jenna. Unf baby Kingsley. (Can’t recall his first name but still unf) my bi heart can’t handle the cuties.
well.
i have a lot of feelings, and they’re hella mixed. my main boi otter hasn’t watched it yet, so i’m writing all my feelings and problems here for you all to muse over. fun times.
i liked a lot of stuff, actually. the dialogue was great, the acting was fabulous, and the cinematography was really good. the villain set up for feodora is amazing, as well as the relationships between victoria/feo, victoria/albert, nancy/charles, victoria/palmerston, etc. the kids were adorable, and the premise of the les mis subplot is really neat. i’m so fucking gay for abigail, and i really liked the two leaders and irish boy. footman is cool i guess, and sophie as the token “too hot for anyone to handle” is fine. the cheesy transitions and terrible cgi haven’t changed, which is really more endearing than anything. i really liked everything up through the last 10 minutes as an objective viewer. it was funny and had really good set up for the rest of the season, buttttttttt.
also what the fuck. what. the. fuck. i’m genuinely upset about a lot of things, and most of them are drumfred related.
alfred was a main character in the last season. a main character, and we didn’t get a catch-up with him at all. he was just kinda shoved back to his s1 role of background necessity and occasional lighthearted quip guy, which is so incredibly bad. of course i’m speaking from a fangirl pov, because my boy, but from a story pov, it makes no sense. it’s nuts to just drop such an important character from the last season with absolutely nothing. just one scene where we see what he’s been up to, where the hell wilhelmina is, and how he’s dealing with the lack of drummond in his life would have been enough. i wrote a lengthy post defending the story choice of killing drummond off, and i still stand by a lot of that in the sense of character motivations and moving onwards with the story, but if they continue with this “eh, let’s forget about it” thing, i’m gonna be so pissed. ughghghghghghg. and not to mention dropping mina! not even a word as to her whereabouts, and she and alfred are engaged and she was a main-ish character too. good god. they spent so much time with so many new characters that we really don’t need and/or care about when they could have been building off the preexisting important stories and characters.
also, what happened to victoria’s character development? s1 was her relationship with albert and becoming comfortable in her place as queen, s2 was her learning to sympathize with the public. and now what? it seemed to me that a lot of her sympathy towards the lower classes that they spent literal episodes building up just got thrown to the wind in favor of drama.
long story short here, too much emphasis on new characters no one has the time to care about instead of building on the good stuff they already had, and too much soap-opera drama at the end. i thought that they should have made this a two-parter, making sure to stick with the “a lesson an episode” theme of the last two seasons, as its really the only way to handle a story as long and generally plotless as the real victoria’s, with underlying, longer character driven subplots to tie everything together.
i may like it more once more episodes start to come out and i can watch them all in order, and i may be judging too early, but there are some serious story and style flaws in this episode that are kinda telling for me as to the rest of the season. i’m still in love with abigail and palmerston and alfred looked like a fucking god the entire time in the background, but that bitch was in the background nonetheless. ughghghghghghghghhghg.
Preeeeach it
After last season I said they should write Alfred out cos he’d never get a storyline like drumfred again and much as I ADORE Jordan I wish they had. What literally is the point of Lord Alfred anymore other than to look beautiful which he does very well but come the fuck on, boy can act you know
It made no sense to not at least explain where some pretty key characters had gone - I mean not even a line saying “it’s such a shame Harriet remarried/went to India/joined a commune” or whatever the fuck and same for the others
Also I don’t expect much in the way of historical accuracy from daisy but it’s sad to see her chuck what was in fact a very close & loving relationship between Victoria & feodora under a bus and then just reverse over it for extra emphasis
And Albert saying he can’t send Victoria to the nursery when she has a tantrum?! Say what Albert??? That’s a bit of a change of emphasis!!
The exposition was an unsubtle as ever - guys your audience aren’t idiots. We don’t need everything telegraphed several times before it happens and then it explained again after it happened just in case we missed it
So yeah…..maybe it’ll get better

I won’t say any major spoilers but my god what a starting episode.. not gonna lie it was actually intense. Lord Palmerston is an arrogant ass and Wilhelmina & The Duchess of Buccluech are no where to be seen with no mention of their wherabouts. Interesting…
God i’m still just so “wtf?” about last night’s episode..
Like I am so used to reading fics and imagining Alfred and ofc Drummond and some of the other characters in a totally different state of enviroment that the episode just seems like some weird dream I had and nothing actually canon. With half of the original characters missing with no word of where they are don’t help either, it generally feels like something someone is missing.
The vibe so far is soo different from season 2 (and even though i know 1848 was a stressful time) that again, the first episode didn’t even feel real. Just an odd and slightly disturbing dream i had.
It’s not just you & that sums it up really well, it is like a weird dream!
Its like series 2 never happened - people who played a big role in series 2 and in some cases series 1 as well just gone with not even a mention let alone explanation.
Ernest
Harriet
The duchess of buccleuch
Wils
Victoria’s & feodora’s mum
Miss cleery
It’s all VERY odd
I’m excited for new Victoria but I’m still going into it in mourning.
