is legally blonde technically dark academia as it’s a) set at a prestigious university, b) forms a bond through tragedy (the existence of scumbag men) and c) deals with a dark subject matter aka murder??

i think it’s important to note that americans get a lot of criticism for only knowing english, but i would say that learning a second language in the united states is a privilege. unless you have the opportunity to live in an area with a lot of speakers of a language besides english, it is hard to get practice. you have to have time to put into learning a second language if you’re not learning it in an environment where people are speaking the language. you have to probably buy a textbook, maybe a tutor, maybe a college course. the internet has surely made this easier, but i still think that americans usually have to go through a lot of hoops to learn a language because most of us are not presented with an opportunity to practice a language in our daily lives. if you’re lucky and have the money, you can visit the country where they speak the language natively or stay there for a while, but not many people have this opportunity.

im adopting the ‘dark jock’ aesthetic. i’m going to lurk around crumbling old institute buildings in a black tanktop with a skull on it and a backwards ballcap and i’m going to get dark academia people to write my essays for me while i call them nerds and doofuses and prep for the big dark football game

Anonymous asked:

Hi mom, can you explain the difference between aimer and adorer and how to use them?

Hello,

Aimer is to love, usually used in Je t’aime to express deep love; it is actually more often used with fillers that makes it a bit duller (J’aime bien ça: I kinda like this, J’aime beaucoup ça: I really like this).

Adorer is to really like and usually refers to food, animals, movies, etc; it’s pretty enthusiastic and rather informal (J’adore les pandas).

Hope this helps! x

If you thought the French language was fucked up because we give a gender to everything, oh boy get ready :

We says “le coronavirus” (M) but “la Covid-19” (F)

IT’S NOT ALL ! The whole French speaking community started by saying le covid and said it for months before the Académie Française (like the CEOs of French Language) decided that since the “d” in “coviD” stood for “disease” which translate to “maladie” in French which is a feminine noun we should now say la covid !

It’s pure chaos. Some people refuse to say “la covid”, the doctors say it correctly, the journalists and politics forced themselves to say it but they often forgot because they said le covid for months !!!
