Tutorials Go Live Monday @ 3PM EST!!!

For the past few weeks I have been working hard on my first set of art tutorials, and they're finally ready. I will be releasing them on March 11th at 3:00pm EST / 15:00 UTC -04:00 on my YouTube channel.

I'm almost a year into losing my job, and every month is a fight to survive for my spouse, our two dogs, and me. In between a temporary consulting gig and sending out ridiculous numbers of applications, I've been really enjoying making art and also doing what I can to help other artists, aspiring or otherwise. I want to support the community in the ways that I am able, and any support in return is deeply appreciated, whatever that support looks like for you.

Making tutorials is something I've been thinking about for years and never done, but since I still haven't had any leads on full-time work, now is as good a time as any. I'm primarily thinking about YouTube videos, but I would consider translating the tutorials into webpages or documents as well.

Let me know with comments, tags, and reblogs what you want to learn how to do! @freesia-writes inspired me to make a tutorial about drawing Temuera Morrison for those who want to make clone fanart, for example.

If you are so inclined to share what you do and don't like about tutorials you've watched in the past, that would also be a big help.

I would love tutorials of how to draw the clones. And how to draw OCs from photo references.

For me, both verbal and written instructions (or CCs) are helpful. Just watching you do it step by step. My personal goal is to be able to draw scenes of my OCs and characters from the shows, so I don’t even know how to do that. I would have to be able to draw my OCs from reference photos, the clones from screenshots I guess? And combine them with new poses? 😂🙈

Digital Artists!

I've read some articles but still feel a bit lost. If I were hoping to learn how to draw digitally, do you have a favorite app that would help me along the way? I have ZERO traditional art experience. I mean, I can paint a bit, but when it comes to drawing, I have no sense of depth or angle or any of it. So an app that would hold my hand and teach me like an idiot would be greatly appreciated. If it exists. ;) And any and all information that you've gleaned along the way or stuff you wish you knew as a beginner would be lovely!

Very new to TBB Tumblr (1 week old!) and loved reading everyone's responses so I wanted to share mine too. This is probably gonna be really long 🫣, but some background before I answer the questions….

I discovered Star Wars animation very late (I was mainly an OT fan) - watched TCW in 2022 over ~4 months, really loved it and it increased my appreciation for the prequels 500%. While I did enjoy the TBB arc in S7, I wasn't keen on watching The Bad Batch show as it sounded like it's Clone A-Team / 5 macho men just blowing stuff up.

Out of boredom I started the TBB pilot episode in March 2023, and OH. MY. GOD. I HAVE NEVER BEEN THIS INVESTED & OBSESSED THIS FAST with any Star Wars movie/show. 🤯 In the 3 weeks I binged TBB S1 & 2, I went through a rollercoaster of emotions from amazement to heartbreak… and I'm still fixated about everything TBB almost a year later. On to the Qs:

What you love about The Bad Batch? I'm a sucker for the reluctant parent & child trope so I really love the relationships & found family dynamics between Omega and the Batch. Unlike any other SW media I enjoy, I love every single main character (esp. Omega, Crosshair & Tech). I'm also very intrigued by this timeline directly after the Clone Wars and seeing how everything unfolds. The music and visuals are also a big draw for me.

If you're an artist, writer, creator, reader, etc? I'm an artist (children's book illustrator) and my early SW fan art were all Leia, then Grogu and now TBB. My style is geared towards younger kids, so I draw mainly cute (e.g. my profile pic). Ngl, I wish I am better at drawing men because I have so many ideas re: the clones I want to draw but I don't have the skills!!

What you love engaging with on Tumblr? All kinds but especially fan art, fics and analysis posts. I rejoined Tumblr last week after 10+ years away because I am so into TBB and need to let out all my fangirl *FEELINGS* 😂. Thanks @lightwise for encouraging me to come back to this platform.

I have to keep my IG and Twitter on a more 'professional children's book illustrator' level, i.e. I can't talk and share Star Wars stuff 24/7, so I'm very happy I can let loose here.

This is fantastic. Plenty of like-minded lovelies here! My experience in getting into the animated stuff was really similar! Watched TCW after Mando season 1 (or 2??) to learn more about Mandalore, was definitely sucked in, and then TBB drove it home. ;)

Fanfiction and fanart are bonus content, brought directly to you without monetary motives. That is so rare nowadays. You can and should if you're able to support these creators with donations, kudos, comments and reblogs. But you're not obliged to. You can consume it for free, because people enjoy sharing their talents with you. Make them feel loved for their gifts for us.

The creativity and hard work is absolutely amazing! I didn’t dive into fanfic and fanart until about a year ago (I KNOW) but it has been such an incredible blessing. I am in AWE of the diversity in talent and style, and the fact that we can all enjoy something we love in a million different ways is just incredible. hello there, i need help

Okay, first of all, I really hate to be doing this. I really don't want to be a bother to anyone, but I really need your help.

I'm opening my commissions over on Ko-Fi because I need to raise money due to a running debt at one of the hardwares in my city (the one with the cat if you can remember).

Just a quick backstory of what happened: I haven't been active because I've been managing a construction. The client wants it to be done by a certain date this December. Not only that the project had to be rushed but they had a lot of additional works that they did not provide budget for. Our company wanted to help them out, so, we decided to use our own money and soon had to loan from that hardware to have the additional works built by their target date.

The hardware agreed to loan us but like all cases, they set a due date. The due date had passed and we still haven't paid them because the client won't pay us (after many, many requests for payment) and they claim they would pay us by next year.

The hardware had my brother-in-law as guarantor and they had been coming after him and me for the past few weeks. I went as far as telling the exact whole story to the hardware in an effort to make them understand. Luckily, they are nice people and they undestood but I'm not sure how much longer they'll understand. I fear that the next time they come after me and my brother-in-law would be to file a lawsuit.

Which is why, I'm coming forward to ask for your commissions. I really don't want to ask for just donations bec I wanna make sure you get something in return. But for those who are willing to just donate, I highly appreciate it, and will still be giving a chibi of your chosen character.
