idk. i think fandom could use a lot less of “every person’s interpretation of a text is valid and true!” and more of “reading a text means taking all parts of it into account, including the bits you don’t like or the pairings you don’t ship, to consider what the full picture is and what the larger themes are.”
projecting your fantasies onto a text, hyperfocusing on the characters you think are hot/shippable and building entire theories based on micro interactions that don’t take other competing dynamics and plotlines into account isn’t “analysis” it’s projection and fantasy. which is fine, but take responsibility for your desires and your fantasies instead of making fandom inhospitable for everyone. some readings of a text are plain wrong, others miss or willfully erase vital context just to rationalize romantic pairings. these are not accurate readings of the text. doesn’t mean they should be attacked or shamed, but neither can you expect people to validate every single headcanon and shipper fantasy as a legitimate “reading” of the text either.
Imagine hearing "go touch grass" from a 16 year old...... go touch a high school diploma
consuming media uncritically if my favorite character kills I will too
Idk why but villains with standards will always be the funniest thing to me. like you'll get someone who will take absolute pleasure in doing the most vile things but paying their minions less than minimum wage? how dare you insult their honor. there'll be a guy who just loves terrorizing people but if you say something sexist about his sidekick he'll punch you in the throat and step aside with glee to let her pummel you. villains who are like "murder is fine generally but if you're a homophobe then I'll tie you to a boulder and catapult you into the ocean". Idk there's just something innately hilarious about a villain who is very definitively bad, like extremely morally reprehensible, but like there are just certain things that even they won't stoop to, thereby implying that those who do are worse

idk about y'all…..but im really ready for the next phase of my life to begin aka the part where im stable and secure and not worried about much
honestly frodo’s journey is so wild
like, imagine your uncle goes missing after his birthday party, and his old stoner friend from out of town tells you the souvenir he brought back from a vegas trip 80 years ago is actually satan’s mood ring and now zombie assassins are coming to burn down your town unless you and your lawn guy meet up with medieval hozier in a dark gastropub…
mom come pick me up i'm scared the usamericans think their experiences are universal
Everyone needs to understand that the capitalist class would rather kill all life on Earth, including, ultimately themselves, then give up their money or their power. This isn’t a hypothetical thing, by the way; the oil companies have already made that choice.
this really really isn’t exaggeration because every single time legislation is introduced that would protect the environment, protect workers, protect human health or make products more effective, business owners fight it tooth and nail and that includes when it can be mathematically proven to have either a negligible effect on their profits or even make them more money in the long run after taking a MINUTE, temporary hit. They don’t even want to do better later. They want every single fucking penny they’re able to get today, and only today, no matter who loses a home or gets cancer or what goes completely fucking extinct. This is almost universally true. When you find a huge monopoly willing to let one thing get better you’ll almost always find that they’re doing ten worse things to make up the money and complied with the one nice gesture so they can look good and attract more customers. This isn’t “conspiracy theory” shit but all out in the open.
idk it just feels so good when you realize a fandom friend has become ur friend friend—y’know? like instead of only talking about ur common interest u start branching out and talking to each other about your lives, your other hobbies, and it’s even cooler to remain close if one or both of you lose interest in the fandom you met in. your bond, no longer dependent on the mutual love you had for some thing—now lies upon the kinship you’ve built. i think that’s beautiful
"i could fix him" yeah? well i could accept him as he is. you don't like the murder? grow up. the atrocities are part of him and ive decided they're funny
shoutout to everyone who’s still following me through my many changes of fandoms and don’t get pissed off whenever I flood your dash with things you don’t even like. thank you.
