Hanukkah star trek style as requested by ample-nacells. I had no idea how to make Bones look like he was saying the blessings so he ended up looking more like he was criticizing Kirks ability to light candles. 

I never really noticed Spock in this scene, but now it’s breaking my heart.

The thing is, Spock knows bigotry from Vulcan and Earth. So he learned to ignore it, and to bear the pain. What he never knew, until he met Jim Kirk, was someone speaking up for him. Of course his father told him, that it was illogical. And his beloved mother held him as a child. But now he’s a Commander, and he can stand up for himself. Yet, it’s easier just to ignore it. So, when Jim speaks with the lieutenant, it’s not only what every Captain should have said. It’s what Jim, as a human being, really thinks and believes. No matter if they are friends, lovers, or collegues …
