Big Eden: a successful painter named Henry Hart returns to rural Montana to care for his ailing grandfather & catches the eye of the local general store owner, Pike Dexter. In a refreshingly positive rom-com twist, the townsfolk actually rally behind Pike’s efforts to win Henry’s affections!
I don’t know who Megan Kelly is but I wanna piss her off
dis bitch
“Verifiable fact” 😭😂
I’d PISS ON HER tbh
btw Saint Nicholas, whom Santa Claus is based on, was a black guy
and we don’t know exactly what jesus looked like, but here’s an artistic reconstruction of an average 20-something male from his ethnic group at the time
DOES THIS LOOK FUCKING WHITE TO YOU
I want this post everywhere
jesus was represented more or less accurately as an ethnically jewish arab man up until the reign of pope alexander vi, in the late 15th century. since he was viciously persecuting roman jews during this time, alexander wanted to make them less sympathetic to the public, and did so in part by ordering that portrayals of jesus be based off of his son, cesare borgia.
the reason “jesus is white” is because someone purposefully attempted to alter the perception of history to benefit his goal of persecuting a targeted ethnic group.
Ooh, interesting historical note.
I don’t usually share posts like this but I always want to piss off Megan Kelly
Canon Santa not fanon Santa
Anything to piss people off

ok so
everyone knows about this meme, right?
but does anyone else know the woman who made the food? no? time to educate!
This is “Mother Mary”, the owner of Blackberry’s mother.
She made all the cakes for the restaurant while it was open. Chef Gordon Ramsay tried her red velvet cake, and spoke this meme-able line:
He then called Mary over, complimented her food, and gave her a peck on the cheek.
Look how happy she was to hear that!!!
anyways, I hope she has been able to continue her love for baking since the restaurant closed down.

Our Bloody Pearl cycles in ace places because Dejean is an ace of color and everything is respectfully done when it could have easily been a trash fire if written by someone who didn’t care about the community. But ace rep isn’t the only plus this book has going for it. The story ✨ shines ✨ as it talks about disability and healing from abuse. That’s where the heart of this novel is to me and almost every line about accepting your disabilities is a popular highlight for good reason. If you even passively like mermaids and pirates I’d absolutely recommend this book. Also I love Dejean v much, kthxbuy!
Sad thing is it’s probably gonna be shit and win a million awards or be really good and be extremely obscure
The movie will be a romcom also the director is a wlw
PEOPLE !!!
That wlw director is ALICE WU who also directed Saving Face
AND
This is going to be available on Netflix.
AND
When you search for it today there is a REMIND ME button.
I say DO IT so 1) Netflix knows there is already pre-release interest; 2) you want to see this when it comes out
For the fourth day of Ace Week, we are highlighting creators who are aces of color. Check out their work!
Ariana grande is suing forever 21 for stealing her look when she literally stole her look from a smaller queer artist I have no words
here’s the full body pic
and a lil more context..
Don’t try to perform at pride if you’re gonna take advantage of the community you’re performing for.
Diet Prada came for Ari’s life because she’s trying to appropriate literally anything she possibly can.
Like..... there’s proof!!
all the original pieces look much nicer than all the expensive bootlegged crap she’s using, too..... she’s a big star, don’t you think she could just wear the original couture???? like, she’s got the resources, right???
Can we also mention those cat eared headphones she ripped off from an artist and gave no credit to?
Those cat-ear headphones were originally designed by Wenqing Yang aka Yuumei, a Chinese-American artist.
Like here’s the main issue: there would be no problem if Ariana gave credit where it was due. But she acts as if all her ideas are original while stealing from both queer artists and people of. color.
And she can get away with it because she’s famous. It’s even worse because people will defend her. It messed up
the amount of representation for people of color in the alternative scene is really… im not even sure what to say but its almost nonexistent and i gotta say im not a fan!
nobody ever straight up says it but being emo or punk or goth is seen as a White Thing and i absolutely hate it. people of color are already underrepresented all the time and making alternative look like a white thing is… not good, to say the least.
there are so many alternative music artists of color out there and there are masterposts made listing them but can you believe it? theyre so underrated and nobody talks about them so people have to make articles and posts to give them recognition because people of color trying to pursue something that big are never recognized?
im literally mexican but ive been lectured by a white person trying to tell me that no, actually, punk’s history isnt about minorities. white goths are straight up racist when they make their skin extremely pale and talk about how it’s the epitome of goth beauty. etc etc.
you look up emo and all the pictures are white kids. you look up scene and all the pictures are white kids. you look up absolutely any alternative subculture and all the people in the pictures are white. if you want to find images of alternative fashion with models of color you have to specify because white is the default.
every single day i have to remind myself that alternative isnt a white thing. i have to remember that being nonwhite is exactly one of the reasons why im into this in the first place.
tl;dr people of color into the alternative scene are so alienated from the whole thing and are never represented so it’s seen as a white thing and it sucks!
white people can (and should) reblog but if youre gonna disagree then just don’t
Totally agree, and I’d like to add that I think these movements have been deliberately (though not surprisingly) whitewashed, because there are quite a few big punk/punk rock/metal bands out there with POC members. Off the top of my head, X-Ray Spex, Bad Brains, Alien Kulture, Dead Kennedys, The Bags, Suicidal Tendencies, NOFX, Sum41, Metallica, System of a Down, Dream Theater, Pierce the Veil, Sepultura, Rage Against the Machine, Guns ‘N Roses, Soundgarden…
There are also a few good documentaries about punx of colour out there, including Afro-Punk (2003), a film about Afro-Americans in the American punk scene which spawned the festival of the same name; Tacqwacore: The Birth of Punk Islam (2009), inspired by the novel The Tacwaqores by US Muslim writer Michael Muhammad Knight; and The Decline of Western Civilisation pt 1, pt 2 and pt 3 for some really candid portraits of the diversity of the L.A. alternative scene from 1970 to the present.
I would also recommend the book Violence Girl: East L.A. Rage to Hollywood Stage, a Chicana Punk Story by Alice Bag, lead singer of The Bags.
Queer SFF books by POC authors.

Author Alex K Thorne (@mermaidandthedrunks) answers the question, “Why can’t I say that? It’s not offensive to compare someone to delicious chocolate!” and discusses how to avoid unintentional racism and harmful stereotypes in your writing:
No decent, thoughtful human being wants to be accused of racism. Most decent, thoughtful human beings are guilty of racism.
Of course, it’s usually unconscious, and it’s often hard to keep track of evolving language and social movements, of phrases in the vernacular that were perfectly acceptable ten years ago but are now taboo (and vice-versa).
As writers, albeit pros or fanfic writers, or everyone in between, we use our words as tools, as toys, and sometimes, as weapons. It’s our responsibility to listen to new conversations, to keep abreast of the ever-changing socio-political climate, and above all, to think before we ink.
There are some wonderfully evocative ways to describe people of color without being unintentionally racist or having to sacrifice your creative integrity. When writing about a character of colour (ESPECIALLY if you’re a white author), visit sites such as:

Movies like “Brother bear” “Lilo & Stitch” “Atlantis” “Treasure Planet” “Mulan” are the epitome of not only aesthetically pleasing 2d animated movies, but great plots and strong ass character arcs and shows that diversity is not forced if you walk out of your damn house and i hope we can someday do them justice and bring back the making of movies like those masterpieces and i think they will never be forgotten if we dont let them, so heads up and bring the next generation of 2d animated movies to the animation field now
Only my personal (!) opinion about "Fast and Furious"
How can someone not like Fast and Furious?? (I have to admit I haven't seen all of the movies, just saying so it's clear from the beginning)
Everyone knows it's an action film so ofc there's a lot of unnecessary violence. But if you don't like that, don't watch an action movie...
I mean you have a lot of POC characters (also Asiens, find that in a Hollywood Blockbuster), many of them are good guys (and not only bad guys as you would often see it in other movies).
You have many women that aren't objects but main characters who fight (just as the men) against the bad guys/ are part of the team of the bad guys. Of course one could do more!!! These female characters aren't the best examples of feminist role models!!! (And there are comments of the male characters that are ugh...)
Some of the main points of the series are loyalty, family and friendship.
You have (okay, this is more personal) Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Gal Gadot, Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker...
For those who are not very familiar with his face, Julian Dennison is a maori kid who won the New Zealand Film Award for Best Supporting Actor when he was very young and he was also the main character of ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople, a very, veeery huge movie from New Zealand.
He just joined the cast of ‘Deadpool 2′
