A movie about love during war ,its meaning and also its connection to morals.A movie about our place in the world ,our limits and their undoing.A movie about family, blood and friendship. But enough with the introduction.I have to say I fell in love with postwar England ,where people after years of war, were trying to continue their lives normally. War was deeply rooted in their hearts making them unable to see and also to feel clearly, making them harsh and teaching them important life lessons. This fact is exactly what makes the characters interesting in the movie. The have the opportunity to build a peaceful life and to overcome their fears and differences but their past keep pulling them backwards.Love, honour, principles well placed in their hearts face daily hate ,fear and selfpreservation. In a small society like Guernsey island compassion thrives.
Memorable performances by Lily James ,Penelope Wilton ,Michiel Huisman and the rest of the cast.
Being based on the book by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows the movie poses, unfortunately,a few noticeable gaps
Downton Abbey alum Jessica Brown-Findlay, Penelope Wilton and Lily James joined Michiel Huisman in filming Guernsey in Bideford, England on May 5, 2017. A fourth Downton alum, Matthew Goode (not pictured) also joins the cast. Photos: Daily Mail (May 6, 2017)
